I’ve been playing the game since the beta. My ele is a level 50 and to date I have 15 chests and have received only 2 keys as drops. Are we supposed to buy keys or something? Is there no other way to get them than through purchasing them? Not sure why I’m not getting any keys. My friends have all gotten equal amounts of keys to chests except me.

from what I have seen keys are a very rare drop but come more frequently as rewards for personal story completion and maybe zone completion I get them from other chests and have been able to chain open as many kitten chests in a row before. but the most effective method of getting them is in fact to purchase them from the gem shop

also random reward from dailies.

Hmm.. i just wait until I get one.. I think I have around 60 chests? Sometimes I have one and open one or two of the chests, but in the main time I do not have these keys and do not care… it is like a nice bonus once in a while and I enjoy to open them, but I do not really need their content.. if it was in my opinion that I would need them, I would consider buying the keys.. but at the moment that is not happening.. Yeah, well, I mostly received them by opening a chest, but therefore I have a long time to wait (for example I have to complete a zone or maybe sometimes I got one from the personal storyline/ dailies as mentioned above… but that does not often occur ^^)

i figured they were rare drops, but i’ve been getting a lot. i’ve probably found around 10 chests and only have 3 left. all the keys i’ve received have been from drops or inside a chest

There is a reason why you got so many chests and the keys can be bought for gems.

81 Black Lion Chests and I’ve had 4 keys.
Contents of the chests doesnt warrant buying keys and wtf would I by 80+ of them.
I’d have to spend about $100 just to open these chests….not going to happen.

Also have 33 basic Transmutation Stones that are useless at lvl 80 but I keep on getting them.
How about letting me trade these useless Transmutation Stones for some keys, say 5:1 ?

If you want to get into the chests, you either wait a Very Long Time for the drop, or you buy the keys.

I have a stack of chests sitting in my bank, waiting semi-patiently.

I do think the drop rate might be kinda sparse, though- between 5 characters since launch, I’ve gotten 3 as drops.

Yeah, but it is your decision that you want to open these chests. Like I said for me it is a nice bonus, but I don’t feel to be forced to purchase the keys for them.. but maybe it’s a little bit a psychological thing?

Just because you have the chests, doesn’t automatically make you need their content?

Don’t know.. I think it is an attitude/ mindset (don’t know which word fits in exactly)..

That’s what I was saying you don’t have to buy them but I bet you’ve thought about it
