After salvageing 12 items with black lion salvage kit, 3 rare items gave me ecto. this is a far cry from 80 %. This is unacceptable.

“100% chance of recovering upgrades. 50% chance to get rarer materials.”

So you have a 50% chance to get T6 materials, ecto don’t count as ‘rarer materials’ and have their own probability to drop. Average drop rate using BLSKs is 1.25 per rare item if item level is 68 or greater.

That said, sometimes you get bad luck. Sorry :s

I am assuming that the 80% you are referencing is the “80% chance for rarer material”. This has nothing to do with the return of ecto’s. The 80% applies to the metal, cloth, leather or wood that is used to craft the item you are salvaging.

You have a 80% chance of getting gossamer instead of silk, or ancient wood instead of elder wood.

Ecto’s have a flat rate of 0-3 for rare and exotic items level 68 or greater. Some say on average you get more ecto’s with better salvage kits.
