I don’t know if it’s just guild chat that’s bugged or if it’s anywhere else as well, but I can still see what people say even when they’re on my ignore list. The first time I tried was a few months ago, though sadly I can’t remember exactly how long, and I sent in a ticket then. I also sent one in a few weeks ago. The issue still isn’t fixed, and I would really like to be able to chat with my guild without having to “hear” people who grate my last nerve but aren’t breaking any rules…

Apparently, this also applies to the /me command. If someone on my block list is near me on the map and wants to say something to me, they can simply format it as an action and I’ll be able to see it in chat.

I have the exact same issue, though I have not sent a ticket in yet. Completely agree though. I’d love to enjoy guild chat without my chat log being filled by the one individual who loves to make a nuisance of himself.

Bumping this up because it’s still a problem. Debating whether or not a third ticket would help.

A third ticket won’t help, your second one probably didn’t either. Once you’ve brought the issue to their attention, making more tickets is just wasting the time of whoever has to sift through them. Just wait for them to fix it or not. Otherwise you’re just sitting in the back seat saying “Are we there yet?” every five minutes.

It’s been months, though, so I’m kind of worried they forgot about it…

I’m also upset by this feature. Seems like a basic oversight. All channels should be blocked when someone is blocked.

I disagree that creating more tickets doesn’t help the problem. The reality is, the noisiest wheels get the oil. The number of tickets in the queue for a certain issue is a factor in considering the prioritization on each issue for the bugfix team to address.

If the support team has a billion tickets related to one issue clogging up their system you can bet that they’re going to at least be more aware of those issues, let alone possibly prioritize those issues.

I submitted a bug report, and everyone else should do the same.

Um… this idea wouldn’t work. You’d have one-sided conversations in guild appearing which would cause an equal number of complaints on the forums due to confusion. Two things: you can either work out your problems yourself in a public channel, or if the guild member is really really a “nuissance”… talk to a guild leader. Don’t expect an automated system to be sensitive to your social problems (not saying -you- are the cause of the problem, but if you’re needing to completely shut someone out from public channels, either you’re a little bitter, or you have a stalker, in which case there are other ways to handle it).

I vouch that it won’t be fixed. That it would cause more problems than it’d fix.

If someone chooses to ignore another player, that means they don’t want to see that player in any capacity, whether it’s guild chat or any other channel.

Only the person who used the block feature would see one-sided conversations, which wouldn’t cause any confusion because they’d know precisely why it was happening. Besides, one-sided conversations happen all the time in my guild, because some people have mics and others don’t. It’s not a big deal.

Guild officers aren’t always going to be able to resolve an issue where you just think someone’s annoying, nor should they be expected to. Annoying people may or may not be breaking any rules.

Then that would be the case where you’re just sensitive. It’s like asking Google to only give you results you want to see. The game can’t tell. It just makes no sense. If you play an online game, you have to be prepared to play with all sorts. That should be bloody obvious.

To me, it just sounds like spite, which is sad.

Whichever way one feels about the blocking feature (which is a very common thing on the internet), the fact is, it’s already in place on GW2. You can already block someone and not have to see them on local or map chat. The staff are clearly in favor of allowing us the option to block out people we don’t want to deal with. So the fact that it doesn’t work in guild chat is most likely not intentional.

Well, my guild just pretty much tore itself apart. It’s a long story, but there’s a very good chance it wouldn’t have happened if we’d been able to block each other. I’ve tried to be polite about this, but I reported it four months ago and it hasn’t even been addressed, let alone fixed. So…thanks for nothing, I guess. :/

Bumping this up, because it looks like it’s going to become problematic for me personally yet again very soon, and because it’s not okay in the first place and seriously needs to be on the high-priority list of things to be fixed.
