During map completion of ‘Fields of Ruin’ it took me longer than I thought was necessary to complete the task ‘Help the vanguard stall the ogre advance’.

I found myself running in circles collecting scrap metal, destroying the only two ogre weapon racks I could find (had to destroy these multiple times to complete task) & trying to find ogres to kill.

As far as I could tell there was only one ogre who fell into the tasks area ( patrolling just south of ’Hunter’s gorge’)

Don’t know if I was being a little inpatient and there was an event that might have triggered eventually (there were some vanguard standing around ’Sapper’s delve’
talking about fighting ogre’s recently) but either the timer for the local event is, in my opinion, too long or the area for completing the task is too small.

I sincerely hope that no one else has suffered or will in the future have to suffer the same tedium.

This issue still persists! How hard would it be to put some mobs in that area, Arena Net? how hard would it be to make a quest work as intended?

Do you now have a QA department? this is flagrantly obvious, not some CNR obscure bug.

Yeah, that Heart is more annoying to complete than most due to the fact that, as part of the Ogre Wars meta, the area can get stuck in a permanent “safe state” where the ogres never come back to retake the area (it happens if the Vanguard get bugged out and do not join the assault on Foulbear Kraal, which happens often), and thus there are no mobs in the area to kill that counts towards the Heart.

Getting into an instance where the area is under ogre control is really the only thing you can do.

18th August 2015 and there still seems to be no Ogres in sight. The only ones are further away for the other heart that requires to kill ogers however there are none in range for this oger quest. The only way to complete it is through scrap metal/weapon racks.

Sorry for raising this topic from the dead but this minor problem is annoying and time consuming but would be really easy to fix.

Yeah. I remember doing it not long after launch and there were ogres there to kill. The last couple of times I’ve done that heart, a year ago and recently, the only way to progress it was the scrap metal/weapon racks. At least those re-spawn fast.
