Hello,

I’m on the brute force story line quest and I’ve defeated two waves of undead attackers but it says I have to defeat more and I can’t find them. I’ve searched the whole instance, talked to the companion but still no luck. Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks.

Basically, I’ve never been able to reproduce the bug, and it’s not clear what’s causing it.

I remember it doing that. Had to go out and hunt down undead. I saw them just standing off to the side once, although another time had no choice but to restart the instance, as even pulling in undead did not advance it. Fortunately, this part of the story isn’t a long one, it is just annoying.

I can say the last times I did it, I ran straight to the npc’s without killing anything, and had no issues, but that was because I wanted it done and over.

I can’t continue my quest line either the enemies just don’t come out after the first few are killed of. I have tried restarting the quest 5 times now and I have not gotten anywhere..

Update: I asked QA to take a look at this and try to repro the bug. At worst, I’m going to try adding some additional UI to indicate where the enemies are located, in case the problem is that there’s an enemy somewhere that needs to be killed to spawn the next wave. (The initial spawns and story-specific attack waves look identical right now.) I can’t give an ETA on when this change will go in, but we’re not ignoring the issue, it’s just one that seems to have a very specific repro and I haven’t found it after dozens of play throughs.

I had this problem playing on alt a few weeks back and reported it also. On the first attempt I was downed by one of the exploding plague carrier dudes but was able to rally and finish the undead off. But the story wouldn’t advance, even when I hunted down every undead I could find in the instance.

When I left the instance and restarted the story step, I was able to progress . I didn’t get downed that time. I’m wondering if it’s something like the plague guy exploding doesn’t properly count as a kill when you get downed by it, so the game thinks the wave isn’t finished off.

I have had this issue several times when I have done this step on multiple characters. As others have suggested, it occurs for me every time with the plague carrier. Have you tried letting the plague carrier kill an npc without tagging it at any point?

An Update: I can reproduce the next wave not spawning. If the asuran vigil recruit dies to condi from the plague carriers after their wave has ended but before the conversation after has concluded, the conversation will cancel at the line where she died and the next wave will not spawn in.

I have reproduced this 3 times in a row on my thief.

The first attachment shows the npc in question. The second shows my placement of a shadow refuge, to allow the plague carriers to reach the asuran npc without dying/being aggroed off. I place the refuge then back off to keep the follower npcs away from them. Time the refuge for when your followers are about to finsh off the wave of 2 brutes.
