So I was in a Fractals run (level 30) recently, and died at least three times due to bugs with the game, and not my own actions.

The first one was when I was suddenly frozen in place at the Volcanic Fractal by the boulder cinematic, and happened to be in the wrong place. Seriously, can this cut scene be removed? Allow us to respond to something like this and simply move out of the way. Players should not need to have fore knowledge where the boulders will show up, and even then it could still happen that it triggers when you happen to be in the wrong spot. Please change this, or teleport players to the side.

The second death was at the grawl shaman, where I was knocked down, and the game suddenly turned me around 180 degrees, and send me running over the edge of the cliff. I wasn’t hit by any fear or anything, but the controls simply ignored the direction I was pressing. This happens a lot, even in the open world. The game will often lock your character in the wrong direction. And even though you are clearly pressing forward, your character moves towards the camera instead, and not in the direction the camera is facing.

The third buggy death was at the Urban Battleground Fractal, where one attack of an enemy hit me multiple times. Now this bug just grinds my gears. Why is the hit detection so dodgy? This is an insta-kill, there’s nothing you can do against it. A single hit from an enemy should not be registered as a triple hit!

The user gains invulnerability during cutscenes as per anet’s solution to mobs spawning on characters and other entities attacking us at these events. I’m not sure about environment entities ignoring this effect, but it shouldn’t. When you get out of a cutscene and die from a boulder hit, it probably means that invulnerability wore off after the cutscene ended which gives you time to react e.g. dodge or move out of the way, unless you’re so unlucky as to get out right as a boulder is behind you. Live and learn.

Were you trying to pick something up? There’s a very annoying bug (unconfirmed, gee i wonder why) that when you try to pick up something off the ground the object bugs your direction so that you continue moving towards it indefinitely until you smash your keyboard to stop. I think at that battle you would probably be going for those boulders on the ground to break his shield?

This has happened to me in Lion’s Arch when I try to pick up a snowball about 10 other people also targeted. The object appears to be there but the user interaction messes up.

No, as the cut scene ended, the boulder was already on top of me. There was literally no opportunity to dodge out of the way, and even then it also resets your camera, so you have no idea where to dodge either.

No I wasn’t picking anything up. I left that to another player, and was focusing on the shamans. It seems that the game often messes up your movement direction when recovering from a knockdown.

The Veteran Ascalonian Warrior. He hit me with the same swing twice, and a cut once, in one attack. It wasn’t a charge attack or anything, just a normal attack. But it registered multiple times, and instantly reduced me from full health to dead.

Yes the boulder cutscene in volcanic fractal is absolutely stupid. I have no idea why this was added (it was not added to the fractal until relatively recently — a few months ago).

I guess it’s just another example of anet trolling fractal players.

Invulnerability does not help because you stop being invulnerable as soon as the cutscene ends.
