I went out of my way to purchase the first Consortium Harvesting Sickle, Chop-It-All Logging Axe, and the Molten Alliance Mining Pick. The big marketing campaign at the BLTC was that “They were like using the Orichalcum tools and could mine anything”. I had been using the Orichalcum tools up to that point and had NEVER received ruined fibers, logs, or ore. But, since switching to the newer models – that cost REAL MONEY mind you, I have had more ruined fibers, logs and ore than I can stand! I have put in tickets about this issue and it still continues. Can someone from the AN please explain the reasoning behind this? Why when I go from using the same thing to using the “Same thing” do I get ruined gathering items; especially after I paid $30.00 for the tools on each character?

It’s not a problem with the purchased pack, is a shared problem with the Orichalcum tools too.
I’m quite new of the game (500 hours +/-) but i can say that from Marionette patch the Orichalcum can fail and give you ruined fiber, ruined log and other junk and unusefull object.

I never have this problem with the Consortium Harvesting Sickle, Chop-It-All Logging Axe, and the Molten Alliance Mining Pick.

Good to know that I should stay clear of the new gathering tools.

Double check you are not running stability. If you are and you get hit with crowd control effects such as knock down and stability kicks in, and your in the process of harvesting, it will give you ruined fiber/ore (I am only referring to the orri picks/ axe here—no idea whats going on with the ever lasting stuff).

This can also happen with any gathering tool if you are in combat while mining/harvesting/logging.

Once you kill a mob and start gathering, don’t loot him until you finish. You will get ruined log if you loot enemy durign gathering. It happens with any tools.
