The Warrior Warhorn #5 skill, Call to Arms (applies vigor to self, applies weakness to enemies) now induces a combat state, something it did not do prior to patch. Seems like a bug to me, or is this now “working as intended”? Saw no mention of it in the patch notes.

Working as intended and also mentioned in the patch.

Fixed a bug where some zero-damage spells (Tainted Shackles, among others) did not place their casters in combat.

I suppose that can be interpretations but what I got from that is “doing anything to an enemy (including applying a condition) will put you in combat”. There was another thread which mentions Thief’s Blinding Powder doing the same due to the Blind.

these skills shouldn’t put us in combat

it’s like saying we should be in combat when pressing skill 1 at citadel.

It only puts you in combat if you actually put weakness on something. If there was nothing in range to apply the weakness to then don’t end up in combat.

If you use 1 and hit something you end up in combat as well.

Khisanth is right. So, if it puts you in combat when you’re hitting nothing, then there is something needing fixing. But if it is as how khisanth describes it, then it is ok.

I am actually testing this in game right now(also while writing the other posts) so that is how it works.

Yes since skill 5 also hits the enemy around you if they are near since it causes them a negative buff which is weakness.

Yeah our intention is to have all skills that put negative effects on the enemy put you in combat. For example it’s not very fair to be able to immobilize a player and stay out of combat.

When in pve I sometimes would get to a node and cast “fear me” to scare away a foe and then continue on my way without ever entering combat. I noticed last night that is no longer the case.

Did this fix apply to on dodge effects that also put effects on enemies? I left the game for about 6 months and before that I recall the necro trait that placed marks on dodge and the thief trait that dropped caltrops on dodge put you in combat when an enemy triggered their effects. When I returned to the game they apparently no longer did this.

It’s not so easy to test in-game since most of the time I am in combat when they are used.

Hey dude you are walking into a wall.

Both the necro trait and the thief trait ends up applying bleeding so that would be unusual. It is easy to test, just roll on top on any neutral mob or the test dummies in Heart of the Mist.

The Necro trait requires you to be in combat for it to activate, caltrops on dodge works out of combat however.

Putting it here for completeness, tested trickery trait 3 (caltrops) on thief and it does put you in combat* when caltrops apply effects on enemies.

Forgot necro dodge trait only triggered in combat.

That is consistent with everything else so … not sure what you are trying to say? O_o
