Hi.

I was one of the players who made their exotic Vine Back Piece before Dragon’s Reach pt. 2 was released. I too had my Cultivated Seed transformed into a Pet Seed.

Not realizing this, I began to work on both of the new back pieces simultaneously. I immediately clicked on the new Pet Seed and it directed me to Fractals of the Mists, where I bought the Mists stone. I combined that with a Clay Pot, Foxfire Clusters, and Bloodstone Dust as directed, to make the Mists Infused Clay Pot

After double clicking this, I turned my exotic Pet Seed into an ascended Pet Seedling.

The most recent patch let us swap our mistaken Pet Seed for the proper Cultivated Seed. However, since I’d already upgraded my Pet Seed into a Seedling, I CANNOT exchange mine with Azarr. The Cultivated Seed does not appear in his merchant list.

I’m sure I can’t be the only one who did this, either. I’m hoping an Arenanet member reads this and knows about this additional roadblock. Please let me know if anyone can help me progress.

I’ve also done this on accident and I am not sure what to do. :/ The only way now would be to remake the entire first backpiece which is something that shouldn’t be necessary IMO.

I’m stuck too. I thought I had farmed out all the pieces but apparently should have waited for the Dulfy guide.

I also made the pet seedling and can confirm that there isn’t another way to get the cultivated seed other than making the first back piece again. Considering I spent a considerable amount of gold crafting the items with foxfire clusters and globs of ectoplasm I would like to see a way to at least break down the pet seedling back into it’s components so that I wouldn’t have to waste more time/laurels/gold crafting the first backpiece all over again.

I too would like something to happen for those of us who were too excited and didn’t read things completely (which I can own up to since I was just stoked for something to do). Hopefully we can get a fix because honestly I don’t want to have to backtrack if at all possible, not to mention the combine did eat up some gold.

I as well used my pet seed not knowing what the whole situtation was. I would really want just to get the pet seed and mists infused clay pot back so I can proceed without spending another 150g which I don’t have just because there was no information .. I can proceed with the ascended back but should I wait for a new patch?

Exactly same issue here, contacted support, waiting what they say.

I also have the same issue.. Made my Pet Seed into a Pet Seedling, not knowing that I mistakenly received a Pet Seed instead of a Cultivated Seed.

It would be nice if Anet send us just a Cultivated Seed so that we can continuu for the second part of this backpiece and keep the Pet Seedling for when we finish the second piece and want to continuu for the third part.

so atm it looks like we have to do the whole backpiece from part 1 again, which we already have done, spend another 7 days farming and waiting for all the materials to get another cultivated seed ? on top of that we have to spend 13 laurels to get all the starting materials again because YOU ANet kittened up ? imo, thats pretty unfair. i would like to make the backpiece because it looks really cool but i think ill just skip that one.

just wait untill they come up with some kind of fix for this problem. In the mean time you can just scavange around for the materials and already make preps for making the backpiece.. I am confidend Anet will find a nice way to give the Cultivated seed to those who already made the Pet seedling (and perhaps even keep the Pet Seedling since already materials went in it)

Haha A-net told me to delete the pet seed and then they’ll talk about it; as if that’s going to happen. They did fix it in some patch so that you are able to continue with the ascended version though.

This is what the Devs said when they announced the fix:

After Tuesday’s release, if your Cultivated Seed was changed into a Pet Seed, you can talk to the centaur Azarr Softhoof in the Upland Oasis (Dry Top) to exchange it back to the Cultivated Seed you previously created. This will then allow you to continue the process of crafting the Mysterious Vine back item, which can then in turn be evolved into a Cultivated Vine and then finally the Mawdrey (ascended) back item. If however you started evolving the Pet Seed into an exotic Pet Seedling, know that you won’t be able to go back to the previous crafting process as you’ve already started crafting Mawdrey. As you won’t be able to craft the Cultivated Vine during this process, we’ll work on a way to unlock that specific skin for you in a future update.
