Can't Salvage Certain 'Basic Tier' Items
These items cannot be salvaged:
Some starting equipment.
Town clothing
Equipment bought with
Karma
Coin (although cultural armor can still be salvaged).
Badges of Honor
I found lvl 30’s-60’s that I can’t salvage, thats not starting equipment. Please click the screenshot and tell me what that item falls under in the list you provided.

If you bought it from an NPC, you likely cannot salvage it.
The removal of the transmutation system makes this distinction VERY important now in terms of adding (and being unable to economically retrieve) upgrades on these items.

It was bought from the trading post! Can you guys please click the link and see that I was on trading post. I’ll take another screenshot so you can see it on trading post.

Yeah I was pretty kittened to find out way back when when they made Karma armor not salvageable. It used to be salvageable but apparently that was being abused. I had runes of divinity on a full set then got bored of that set and wanted the rune. Needless to say I was out around 60 gold because those runes could not be taken out. Contacted support where they basically told me tough luck.
You can buy gear from an NPC, and then list it on the Trading Post. Might be rather inconvenient for buyers, but it has been this way since launch. You have to be careful about what you buy from the TP.

I bought numerious items off the trading post, and some “BASIC TIER” items of various levels are not SALVAGABLE! It’s very simple.

Lol. Someone else bought it from an NPC (with coin), then listed it on the Trading Post. Again, you must be careful about what you purchase from the TP for salvaging purposes.
Just because someone listed it on the TP, doesn’t magically remove its non-salvageable status. Sorry for your loss.
Per above, nobody said YOU purchased it an NPC, but someone did and then sold it to you. I think only white (and maybe blue) items purchased from an NPC can be sold on the TP.

How do you know if an item was sold from an NPC before you buy it on trading post? How can you be careful? It should state on each item if its salvageable or not.
Experience. Buy only one, and test. It should, perhaps, but it doesn’t.
