I noticed recently that this has happened with a friend of mine, and I’m not sure how to fix this problem.

Every time we enter a new map (both of us going through the portal) we come out to the other side- and we can’t see each other. So every time we go through a portal, I have to run back through the portal and then run back through again to see him.

Also, when I logged in and saw he was on, I invited him, but his picture was dark. It seemed like he was on a different map, and I didn’t see his blue dot anywhere whatsoever. I tried porting to different areas, in and out of the map, but it doesn’t seem to work.

Could it be that he’s on a different server or is there something I’m missing?

Your friend is likely on a different MegaServer map instance than you. If you are both on the same map (i.e. Metrica Province, LA, Blazeridge Steppes), you should be able to right-click his name in your party UI and choose ‘Join in xxxx’.

This shouldn’t separate parties and guilds but it does. But as stated above, that is how you join party members in their copy of the map.
