Okay, so this only really started happening today, but its already really worrying me.
I made a new character not long ago, and today I was on said character and going to meet a friend in Divinity’s Reach.

When I used the Asuran Gate in Lion’s Arch, the game crashed on loading screen. When I logged back in and tried to access that particular character again, the loading screen came up for a bit, before the game crashed and a message saying “A Disk -I/O error has occurred! Guild Wars 2 will now terminate!” appeared.

I tried relaunching the game several times, with no success, so I decided to investigate a little. I created a “test” character, for the specific purposes of entering Divinity’s Reach, and the same thing happened as had happened to the character previously mentioned.

In short, I am not able to enter Divinity’s Reach on a single character, because they will become stuck in a loading screen/crashing loop.
I’ve tried moving the GW2 folder to a different location, again, to no avail. I really, REALLY need some help, as I don’t know what other areas could potentially land me and my remaining characters in this loop, and Divinity’s Reach has become inaccessible, which is not ideal.

You can try a -repair of the client, in case of corrupted file(s). Top/Bottom of Page – Support – Search (Repair)

You could also try looking for any errors on your HD.

Good luck.

Thanks for replying so quickly! Do you mean the repair tactic mentioned in this thread?

If so, I tried it already, and its not done any good. The same error comes up while the repair is running.
How would I go about looking for errors in my HD? I’m not the most computer-savvy person.

If you have Windows, these are the instruction from the ‘Help and Support’ Tab/icon.

You can solve some computer problems by checking a drive or drives for errors. For example, you can check your computer’s primary hard disk to fix some performance issues, or you can check an external hard drive if it’s not working properly.

Click the Windows icon in the taskbar to open the window, and then click ‘Computer’.

Right-click the drive that you want to check, and then click Properties.

Click the Tools tab, and then, under Error-checking, click Check now. Administrator permission required If you’re prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

To automatically repair problems with files and folders that the scan detects, select Automatically fix file system errors. Otherwise, the disk check will report problems but not fix them.

To perform a thorough check, select Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. This scan attempts to find and repair physical errors on the drive itself, and it can take much longer to complete.

To check for both file errors and physical errors, select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

Click Start.

Depending on the size of your drive, this might take several minutes. For best results, don’t use your computer for any other tasks while it is checking for errors.

Good luck.

Alright, so it kind of worked, I suppose?

I managed to log in on the character in question, but it took a very long time, and only part of the map loaded. But when I tried to move around or rotate the camera, the game froze up, and then I got the crash and the i/o message again.

Is there anything else I can try? I feel as though this is a step in the right direction, at least.

What did chkdsk find? Did you have bad sectors? Did it repair them? Have you tried copying GW2 to a different area on your HD?

Oh, you didn’t mention running a Chkdsk.
I only tried the first solution. I have tried moving GW2 to a different location, which as I said, made no difference.
I’ll run the chkdsk today and see what comes up.
