Guild Wars 2

I spent 30 hours (yes, RIDICULOUS) downloading this game, went on and created a character and since I am tired, logged out. But where is the stupid shortcut to the game? I closed the launcher screen and now I can’t find it again. It wants to re-download the game! I have never downloaded a digital game before. Usually, when I install a game, it makes a shortcut right on my desktop. I cannot find it. Sorry if I am stupid, but I am lost.

It should be somewhere on your desktop, in the start menu or in the “games” section if you are using windows 7.

Are you clicking on GW2.exe or GW2setup.exe? The latter will prompt you to install the game because that’s what its for, and I guess you downloaded it to your desktop and just forgot it was there.

Isn’t GW2 in your start menu? If not, run a search for “GW2.exe”, it should be there somewhere if you could play the game. It doesn’t just randomly uninstall itself.

It does seem odd both of you are having the same problem and finished downloading around the same time but maybe it’s just coincidence.

The only other thing I can think of is an update that could have occurred while you were downloading the game over a longer period of time. A patch update will have the client restart and start downloading again then restart to install. However a patch update is short and won’t take nearly as long as downloading the game. At most it shouldn’t take more than half an hour for the regular patches we have had that are simple bug fixes or adding some skins.
