I tried today with my friend on Silverwastes to join his map but there is no such option. Any ideas ?

That sounds like your friend is in a different region(NA, EU).

Then they couldn’t even group, or whisper, or do anything together. Were you bychance already on the same map and just didn’t realise?

Actually, unless it was changed, you can whisper, mail, and party with a person from a different region. Back when we had to use a website for LFG, there would often be issues if the poster didn’t specify if they were EU or NA, since you wouldn’t be able to actually play with someone from a different region.
