Can't move after getting hit with Putrid Gust
My charr Warrior specifically gets this problem. I don’t get it on any other characters, strangely.
The only thing that works to free him is a movement effect. (Warrior Sword #2, GS 3 & 5, Axe F1 for example).
Other knockback spells cause this on my warrior too, but the Risen Wizard’s putrid gust is one I come across pretty frequently.
I have noticed that after being knocked back, he’s often stuck slightly physically clipped into the ground.

Maybe this is what’s been happening to me. Are your characters able to use other skills when it happens? I noticed last night that my level-80 guardian was completely unresponsive for about 10 seconds or so while a bandit in Queensdale kept smacking him, but there was no stun effect or anything. I could bring up whatever UI screen I wanted, but my skills didn’t seem to work; I can’t remember whether the shouts worked or not, but I have screenshots on my home computer and I’ll check on that when I get home. I couldn’t seem to do anything else at the time, so I snapped several pictures. Maybe one of them will be helpful.
It’s also happened to me on other characters, though I didn’t take screenshots then. My wife has complained about it before, too. I really need to check those images…

@RoyHarmon: Skills worked fine, hence the ability to free myself using a movement effect.
I have noticed a separate similar issue however, related to the immobilization condition – Sometimes if I get immobilized while I jump, I’ll be stuck in a state where I’m not quite on the ground and cannot use any abilities with a cast time, as if I was stuck in midair.
The only way to free myself in that state is using an instant condition removal skill to get rid of immobilization (as instant cast abilities work still), or let it wear off normally. This bug seems to happen regardless of profession or race, as I’ve experienced it on my human elementalist, Sylvari Necro and various Charr.
I’m beginning to wonder if the ‘stuck rooted in ground’ bug is perhaps something exclusive to Warriors.

Okay, I found a screenshot or three. I don’t appear to be immobilized, though I could have been prior to this happening. I guess I didn’t try my remaining shout, but the weapon and heal skills were definitely unresponsive— you can see me trying to spam the #1 skill.
Skill #2 was a sort of leaping attack, so it might have done something different, I don’t know.
Regardless, it doesn’t appear to be the same bug. I just wanted to post these so you knew what I was talking about.

I kept getting the exact same issue tonight on my mesmer. Movement keys stop working, but skills, menus, etc still work.
Sometimes I get “stuck” to the ground after I use my mesmer staff teleport. I am unable to move or dodge.
By doing /sit my character will once again be able to move.
Make sure the full sit animations goes through and when your character is sitting down, start moving.
