I’ve been having trouble with the game not recognizing when I press 3 or 4 keys at a time. That might sound excessive, but that’s usually 2 movement keys like W and A, as well as a utility skill. It’s especially problematic with hotkeys, like my E key, which is hotkeyed to be utility 9.

For example: I’m pressing W and A, and then try to use skill 9 by pressing E, frequently nothing happens. Sometimes it does, but usually not. The key itself is fine, and I’ve had problems with my Z key, which is hotkeyed to utility 8.

Another example: Just pressing two keys, W then R for autorun. Still have to press it almost 10 times to get it to work. Not as big a deal but very annoying, especially while trying to run from someone.

I never have problems when typing in-game or when doing anything outside the GW2 client, I’m quite sure this is a software issue with the GW2 client. It’s a massive issue during sPvP when I’m fighting and can’t activate/deactivate Impossible Odds or some other hugely important utility. I’ve talked to a friend and he has the same issue. This is really an immediate issue, it’s essentially gamebreaking, if not in an obvious fashion like crashing the client. It’s incredibly frustrating when you lose but you do nothing wrong.

Is this a new problem or have you had it for a while?

If it’s the latter, there’s something called “key rollover” that applies to keyboards. The keys on cheap USB keyboards share circuitry (this is probably a simplification, but it’s an easy way to think of it), so if you press several simultaneously, the additional ones won’t be registered. How it manifests is specific to each design… e.g. on one keyboard A,W,E may be an issue, but on another it’s A,W,Y. You don’t see it in normal computing because you rarely need to press more than a couple of keys simultaneously.

If it is a key rollover problem, the only solution is to buy a new keyboard. Something that specifically states “N-key rollover” or NKRO as a feature is the safest bet.

Yo. This is the issue, thank you so much. I noticed it because I’ve been playing power rev recently, it’s the first time i’ve really need hotkeys in sPvP. Well that settles it, either buying a new keyboard or just letting go of movement keys while using hotkeys.
