I have two level 80 exotic pauldrons. One is the berserker set I bought with gold, and the other is the Whispering set I bought with Karma in the last zone. I’m using a fine transmutation stone which is good for level 80 items. I open the panel up, drag the items in, select what I want, it says ‘good’ above the button, so I press it and…nothing. It does literally nothing.

Just making sure you have done this thoroughly.

1. You clicked on the stone which then brings up the transmutation box.
2. Moved both pieces over into the box.
3. Chose the skin you want (it’s the top selection)
4. Chose the stats you want (it’s the middle selection)
5 Chose the upgrade you want meaning gem or rune (it’s the bottom selection)
6. Then pressed the button.

People often miss #5 so the button won’t work.

Make sure you’re not wearing anything you want to transmutate. At one point in time you could be wearing an item and still transmutate it, but now you must unequip both items before proceeding.

I made Explorer’s Noble Shoulders (defense: 86) via leatherworking, but I can’t transmute with Berserker’s Pirate Shoulders (defense: 80). I made Explorer’s Noble Pants (defense: 193) via leathworking, but I can’t transmute with Commando’s Pants (defense: 153). None of these items are currently equipped to my person.

Is it simply not possible to transmute with items you’ve crafted? Seems bizarre to me. I want the inherent stats of the high level stuff I craft, plus the insignias I make, but I like the skins of some of the stuff I found. Plus, I want to keep the runes I’ve already equipped—and I don’t want to salvage for them, because with my luck I’ll probably lose them.

Any help would be appreciated.

Actually, based off what he said, it’s most likely what Ska wrote, which is that he still has one of the pieces on.

Oh, I think I know the problem: I bet I need a Fine Transmutation Stone from the gem store. ANet, you devious kittens.

Basic Transmutation Stones cap at level 79, I believe.
