Guild Wars 2

I’ve reported this as a bug when it first started happening about almost a year ago. It then went awayfor a bit, but now I’m getting it again, on and off.

Basically, I can’t initiate whispers. I have to ask in guild that the person whisper me, since I can only reply. Eventually the whisper does go through, but then it takes over completely. I’d be running or something when suddenly the whisper box would randomly open, and it would quickly run through the whole list of people I tried to whisper.

I’ve started sending the current time when I’d get that problem. I once had a whisper take 45 minutes to send. This is obviously quite annoying.

Please fix it. :/

It sounds as if you’re experiencing latency between your computer and the “social” server (the one that handles friends list, chat, and the other non-exploration|combat details). Some possible reasons that’s happening (for you and not to others) can get very technical and for those, your best bet is to work with support directly. (Follow the links from top left to submit a request.)

In the meantime, you can try a couple of things:

• -repair your client, instructions on the wiki
• download a new copy of your program file (rename the old one to e.g. gw2.exe.old and go to the “My Account” subsection (upper right, under your userID on this page) and grab a new copy. Or (windows only) try the 64-bit if you’re on 32-bit or vice-vera, to see if that helps.
