Ever since playing today, I can’t click on something to target it. This seems wrong.

Is this a bug, or did I accidentally click something I shouldn’t have?

I had this same problem occur today. It seems to effect all my characters. It ONLY effects whether I can click to target enemies and NPCs. I can still tab-target, and swinging wildly still autotargets, I can also still both right and left click on menu items and anything else in the game, but I cannot click to select a particular NPC or enemy (or targetable objects, for that matter). This problem has only occurred to me this morning, I was playing yesterday afternoon and for months prior without encountering this issue, and have not messed with the options since near launch.

I’ve had this problem as well, and it disappeared just as randomly as it happened.

I am having this same problem. Has anyone found an answer. Hate having to hit f to interact with NPCs and not being able to select a target!

NPCs, items, mobs, players, enemy players… Can’t click on anything.
Only closing the game helped.

I have this happen too. Accidentally sold a rare weapon this way, couldn’t click the tab to buyback, had to restart and of course the weapon was gone. :/

This happens to me every day. I always exit to desktop and reload. Seems to have fixed it for me every time. But an annoyance just the same.

I normally use tab in PvP but some times I mouse click on NPC’s and walls, etc. to select them. But now I am unable to click on anything….I cant click on enemies, walls, NPC’s or anything.

I noticed this the other night too, I thought I was going mad.

Even though all my mouse buttons were working the game would not allow
me to left click to select Mobs/Notes/objects/NPC’s and and would not allow me
to right click to auto attack. I switched characters and it did not help.

Restarted the client and the issue magically disappeared. Hopefully it was just a glitch.

This is happening to me too now! I’ve been playing since pre-launch and never had this problem. Restarting the game client fixes it but then it starts up again after a loading screen (map change, instance, etc.).

Can’t even highlight mobs/NPCs by mousing over them, but the mouse works perfectly fine with menus and everything else.

Very frustrating.

Same problem happening to me and it seems to be getting worse, it’s gone from once every other day to at least 3-4 times every day i play it. Rebooting the game to fix the problem is annoying if your doing WvWvW or a lengthy story quest.

I had problem targetting with the mouse sometimes too. Usually had to close the client and reopen it to fix it, but it has been a few weeks now that it didn’t happen to me.

I noted this issue today (and have once in the past, perhaps a month and a half ago). I went searching for a thread about it just to make sure it wasn’t related to the increased vertical FOV thing I’m testing out…

I don’t PvP, so it’s a minor annoyance, but it’s definitely annoying, as it makes it nearly impossible to target a specific enemy when there are several in front of me.

Having issues where clicking a target to target it will stop working. I cannot reproduce at will and most times zoning will fix it, or a client restart. However going into (or exiting) instances does not fix it. This is frustrating when you want to target specific foes in a mob, and in WvWvW. Also means I cant report bots.

Hi so I just got this issue today, suddenly I can’t Left nor Right Click to select/lock. So I need to TAB around enemies to locked on them. Any known issue for this?

I was playing with the game normally when suddenly it crashed. So upon re-entering the game I noticed that I no longer can attack. Clicking left mouse button doesn’t allow me to attack even if i’m within attack range of an enemy. My hardware is not dad as I can initiate TALK when in village with villagers.

Is there an option to re-enable it if it got disabled?

I have just experienced this problem, after messing about for a while with settings this has not gone away. There only thing that has changed is that I have just upgraded my video card.

Yeah, I had this issue Tuesday night. Logging out and back in fixed it. Haven’t seen it again, but I didn’t play much last night.

Today I was adventuring and came upon some bots. I could tell because they were standing in a clump and farming a respawning foe. BUT as I went to report them, I found that I could not click on any of the characters.

Where they can be found:
Server: Dragonbrand
Area: Seraph Landing Waypoint
Specifically: Down by the dock area.

This has happened to me before, where I cannot select anything. When it happens to me I can’t even select enemies or anything at all. Relogging does the trick for me every time.

Topic is self-describing my problem.
Occasionally (maybe after portal travel), my left click on objects, NPCs, foes or players does nothing – they should be targeted and their info or name should be displayed at top, but my clicks cease to do this (everything else with left mouse click works).
Need to restart to fix this problem.
This is fresh problem – probably encountered 1st time less than week ago.

It happens to me too sometimes, and to some of my friends. Very annoying.

And, I don’t know if this is related, but sometimes the mouse just stops working. It happened to my wife and to some friends of mine. We tried 2 mouses but nothing worked. Then we rebooted the pc and it fixed it. Could it be that the game somehow messes up with the usb driver?

Happened to me too, and it might be caused by situations when your skill bar gets changed to something else. As I remember, the first time it happened to me was when I got out of a keg brawl match, and another time when I got off a mortar.

Happened to me, restarting game fixed it.

Left and Right mouse-clicks only work on menus and icons. Started today after the server update.

Ferguson’s Crossing here, I get the same thing from time to time. If I log out and restart the client it usually fixes it but it pops up at random times.

I know its an odd problem and I am pretty sure it is not my mouse, because I only notice it in GW, but is there an issue with left clicking? Left clicking in general just won’t work sometimes. Usually when dragging a window/item or using the left click to rotate my camera. It eventually works after a few seconds.

Need to say, that not only clicks not working – also objects not highlighted as they should while moving cursor over them.
It is looks like empty space under cursor.

happened to me for the first time last night aswell. The (strange) thing is its as though the mouse buttons/cursor dont interact with on screen mobs/items- but when you stand next to a node you can still mouse click on gather and it will.
Please devs look into this as its another bug in an already buggy (invulnerability>aggro, obstructions (that arn’t there) invulnerability bug) combat system- to the point that combat is becoming frustratingly annoying

I know that windows 7 had an issue with disrupting/disabling usb ports (and thus anything connected to them) but i could move my mouse cursor and still interact with things next to me and menus just i couldnt target anything mobs/allies/nodes.

I had this issue pop up during beta, and once after launch. I thought it was a rare thing until it started happened to me multiple times this week alone.

I can confirm turning the camera with your mouse will occasionally allow names to be highlighted on npc’s and players (not selectable, just become visible) when the screen is centered, occasionally.

NPC’s can be interacted with by running beside them and pressing the default key, or clicking the “talk” text that appears on screen.

On rare occasions (I believe during fights) I lose the ability to left-click (select) an object (enemy, ally, NPC, environmental weapon etc) in the world to see its name and health. Instead, I have to use the target closest hotkey to target a foe. Also, during this time my hotkey for stowing my weapon (* on number pad above 9) stops working as well, so it seems to affect some hotkeys but not all. I can still however left-click and select things on the User Interface (skills, inventory, etc). Restarting the game fixes the problem, while just going to the character select screen doesn’t.

I have no idea what causes it and it only happens rarely, but thought it was worth mentioning.

This happens to me every once in a while and I noticed usually it only occurs after intense activity like a big fight involving large mobs/veteran/champion npcs.

All of a sudden my mouse stops working and I find I HAVE to use tab to target and that sometime fails. I have not done any key rebinds and use most of the UI as default setup.

This is most annoying because in a few cases I died because I was unable to target the mob that was pounding on me. The only way I got it fixed was to log out and back into the game. That fixed it.

We should not have to log out and in just to fix a game mechanic that works most of the time. It seems to be related to a heavy activity in the game.

Title says it all probably but it happened tonight on the Tixx quest. My left click option was disabled, I could click on my skills but not target enemies by double clicking them. It seems to happen more and more.

Also my Ele. heal skill, the one that grants might, swiftness etc. seems to only grant might and not the other boons that are on the description of the skill. I’m not too savvy on Ele’s (my alt.) but I’m sure I used to run faster when I used that skill.

Another issue that still hasn’t been fixed. It happens to me daily.

Well? Will someone from this company comment on this? It really is a pain in the kitten to restart the client during WvW matches.

Everything starts fine, then after a bit of playing it inevitably happens. Now, I also run another monitor where I will be using youtube or streaming a sport game or something. I don’t know if this is related or not, just sayin’.

From what I understand, restarting your client seems to fix the issue (as a temp fix ofc)
it worked for me on a few occasions but can be very annoying.

I too had the same problem. I tried everything in-game to fix it from relogging to character screen, relogging onto another character, zoning to another area. I also tried to fix it via reconnecting my mouse. I switched the resolution from windowed to windowed full and to others. None of it worked.

I did get it to fix the problem once (for a while) by restarting the game client, logging onto another character (to dump the cache) and logging back into the original character.

I also fixed it a different way. I went into Edit Account > Security > Current Logins. I noticed I had three active logins. I hit the disconnect on the two oldest ones. It restarted my client, so it could be the same fix as above. I wonder if the error could be carrying over through redundant logins though.

My keyboard also stopped working as well. However, in the past several days I noticed not only my mouse stopped working but my keyboard stopped working and my character just stood there not moving.

I had to actually use the Alt+ F4 functions on my keyboard just to close down the game, which of course, froze my computer up as well.

Restarting client or rebooting the computer completely fixes both issues. I have not had this happen before and I’ve been playing since launch.

No idea why all of a sudden this past week I have experienced this problem.

I certainly hope my system does not experience what some other folks have reported. I do, however, have an issue with losing server connections inexplicably during combat or high density activity (like a lot of graphics happening at the same time in the same place).

I mentioned this particular issue because it happened to me two nights ago during the Jormag dragon event.

Last night I experienced losing server connection for both my keyboard and mouse while running in WvWvW with a bunch of guild mates. I had to reboot my system, not just restart the client, as my entire pc froze up as it did during the Jormag fight.

I’ve not had this issue before so am not happy to see it happening now so long after launch.

Need to have a fix for it or I may end up like a lot of other folks, not being able to play the game at all.

This just started today, but i can’t target by clicking on enemys, npc’s, or other players. I can not call targets anymore either. I can still use my mouse to attack, and everything else, just not target. I have to rely on auto target and the tab button, which is getting old.

EDIT: I restarted my game and it started working.

Hmm, I thought it’s weird that I had this problem today & restarting the game making it works again. Obviously, I’m not the only one. The worst part of it is I realized something wasn’t right when I was in a dungeon with mobs around.

had the same issue just then. tried playing around with general options for targetting and restarted, the issue resolved itself.
