I have encountered a problem when trying to convert gems into gold, it gives me an error regarding permission, I have tried clearing the game cache and such yet it still does not work, any help is much appreciated.

If your account is new, you will have to wait until that particular feature is enabled. It should not be more than a week or so, if you play regularly.
