Cannot quit Living Story
Have you completed season 2 already? If so, how about starting up the last episode and then quitting that and see if that gets rid of the tracking.
I know I had that issue and it was fixed doing that. This was pre introduction of the Scarlet Recap though so not sure if that still works.
I have not completed Season 2 on anyone except my Guardian.
I’m running into the same problem. even if you select chapter 8, start it then quit it, it reactivates chapter 1 of season 2. I’d really like to not have to do the living story on EVERY one of my characters that has completed the personal story just to get the tracker out of the upper right corner of the screen. (and I’m not talking about the compass, I know that can be turned off)
That’s exactly my problem as well… I played Season 2 once and have no desire to do so again. I tried switching episodes as was mentioned above, but it didn’t work, so I skipped ahead and played the last installment, hoping that would clear it, but when I finished it automatically sent me back to the first episode I skipped. It’s infuriating! There’s no way I’m ever going to play through this on every character. Anet please stop forcing us to do so solely to clear the tracker. I can’t believe this isn’t a more prominent issue.
Please, please, please just fix the quit button already!
I have the same problem for months already, so annoying

It’s not that the quit button does nothing. Right now if you quit a living story episode it will start the earliest living story episode you haven’t completed on this character yet. While previously you only had to complete episode 8 in season 2 to be free of it. How it behaves after initially completing the personal story now I don’t know.
From a money perspective, replaying the living story isn’t that bad, I’m just going to have to get some good bags for my dedicated bank character so she can carry all these Mawdrey crafting components.
From a story perspective, the living story has almost no replay value, you can see minor variations based on your character’s race and gender and that’s it. I had left this story satisfied after completion of the, a little too easy, achievements.
From a sanity perspective, oh dear God why. We need to be able to quit it.

Title says it all. I don’t want to do Season 2 on my other characters but I am stuck with the prompt in the top right.
