I’ve been doing a lot of JP’s since the update and I’ve noticed some don’t award Empyreal Fragments at the end. So far two that I’ve noticed are the Hidden Garden in Mount Maelstrom and Not So Secret in Gendarran Fields. I will note that in Not So Secret, there are a few Aetherblade Caches that do drop Fragments, but not the end chest. I will post again if I find any more and maybe others could help add to the list.

I made a thread a few days ago, but it’s buried at this point. I’ll just add the ones I’ve found to yours:
Scavenger’s Chasm in Malchor’s Leap – None of the three chests gave fragments, all 12 orbs were used.
Obsidian Sanctum in WvW – Not sure if intentional since it’s technically a WvW map.

I think there was ninja-change added last patch.
Before last patch i’ve done Obsidian Sanctum twice and got 4’ish Empyrean Shards.

Just did it now = > no shards, at all.

I didn’t get any from Behem Gauntlet when I did it. Craze’s Folly only seems to give them to you in one of its chests (whichever you open first), though Demongrub Pits and Dark Reverie do not behave that way (got them from all of the chests in those two).

Beham didn’t award pyreals and breached wall doesn’t have a chest.

Can we get an answer on this?
Is it a bug?

Is it intended some of the JPs should not reward the Empyreal Fragments?
If it is, then can we have a list of which JPs will NOT reward them?

I haven’t got any from Shaman’s Rookery, and I open that one nearly every day.

Isnt it time to put chests at the end of every JP? From memory I only know 2 that have no chest but still.

Are you doing that with a level 80 character? I don’t do that every day but I’ve been running over sometimes after Maw and I am pretty sure it has always given a couple of fragments. Wiki also confirms that it gives 2-4.

Have you done the JP with a lvl 80 char?

I did Obsidian Sanctum with 4 guildies a few days ago and none of us got any Empyreal Fragments (all were level 80).

I can confirm that Scavenger’s Chasm does not give any empyreal. Guildie and I got all 12 orbs, opened all 3 chests, and all we got to show for it was salvage fodder.

& Thanks for the response, we were able to upgrade it from an anomaly to a full bug.

Please note…. that the TYPE of chest seems to have a huge influence and so you might have a bonus chest in Grawl FOTM for instance giving more than you actually intended for daily total there.

It seems magnificent chests and splendid chests (especially sylvari and asuran styles) reward rather well, but grand and the others seem to be rather poor (the wooden ones that look like normal chests found in open world mostly). It is disappointing getting to the end of tough puzzles just to get 0-4 fragments, while some easy ones net you 7-9. Could we get 7-9 on all/most JP chests by chance? It’d even out the ascended material gather rates a bit more.

The fact patch notes said all JP’s reward the EF and i’ve done quite a bit of the JP’s all around just to find out i got no EF at some of them have really ruined my day, yesterday.

Still, you might check the way your system determines when to hand out the EF, because pre-latest fix patch i did get EF (4) from Obsidian Sanctum JP. Now it does not reward them. At least for me.

It’s really a bit of a philosophical / skill-balance debate here … some players, or just some classes in general will have a much easier time completing that bomb run while others will have the absolute most frustrating time simply because dodging doesn’t always prevent the griffons from destroying the bomb.

It’s a subject best left out of the bug thread.

That’s probably why the normal JP “splendid chest” doesn’t require you to carry the bomb all the way. Incidently that is also the chest that rewards the Empyreal Fragment, while the bonus chest that requires the bomb only gives you some greens and blues.

Do we have a definitive answer as to why <80 characters get no fragments from content in low level zones?

Crafting isn’t level capped, why is the loot?

I think it’s part of “time gate” they invented to balance things out.
Tho it looks like unneccessary thing, because you get timers on 2 main crafting components anyways.

Confirmed, done hidden garden the past few days and no fragments, also only get 1-2 items in the chest max.

It’s funny how these are still not fixed while being some of the hardest puzzles.
