Chak Killer - Master is Impossible
Oh and there is also this aswell “http://i.imgur.com/iCB1D5v.jpg” the whole of the Roots of Terror Story Mission is insanely buggy
The Chak Killer Master Achievement is impossible due to the Chak spawning in the walls and floor, this bug was reported ages ago and it appears to have been deleted so I’m reposting it
It’s not “impossible” — it’s just very, very sensitive to small variations. The only time I’ve seen it fail is when people tried to go through the chak too quickly, especially in a group. (That’s not to suggest it doesn’t fail for other reasons that I haven’t seen or that it isn’t a pain in the neck.)
Here are the things I’ve asked my party members to do that have led to success:
- Aggro no more than 3-4 chak at a time, ideally using a ranged weapon and pulling them towards the slope/ramp where you enter that room. Finish killing those before aggroing a new set (it’s slower, but more reliable).
- Tag each of the aggro’d foes and retag; it’s surprisingly easy not to get kill credit if a foe dies from a condition.
- As you get down to the last half dozen or so, start applying AoE near the walls and especially the nearly-see-through crystal wall at the far end. There are usually 1-2 chak hiding behind it.
It seems that there are sometimes more than 40 chak that spawn (since sometimes people get credit before they all die), so it’s more a matter of being really carefully to get credit for each kill.
(To be clear: the instance definitely should be rebalanced, regardless of whether ANet thinks this is a ‘bug’ or not — it shouldn’t be this difficult to get an otherwise simple achievement and there are lots of ways to do that, the easiest being just reduce the requirement from 40 chak to 35 or even 30.)
Good luck.

I have done it over 20 times with these particular parameters as to make it extremely easy to get:
- Solo
- Target and kill 1 at a time
- Not use any skill besides “1” (Necrotic Grasp)
- Not use anything that gives conditions
And I still have not received it, I even counted them and would always get around 45 Chak making the “40 Chak kills” absolutely rubbish

Hmmn. I’m sorry that nothing is working for you. I’ve yet to see it fail using those techniques, but obviously, I’m only seeing a limited number of attempts. I know, though, that the chak can die without counting for a particular person’s credit, because people get the chieve at different times.
In your shoes, I’d submit a request to customer service:
https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new
Including the time/date of some of your attempts and what you’ve tried and ask them for help. With luck, they’ll have a work-around. I’m hoping at worst, they can promise you that they’ll make sure to let you know when the instance is revamped. (Even though I think it’s not impossible, it really should be trivial to know if you are getting credit or not — other similar chieves have a counter showing you how many foes you’ve killed and so on.)
