How do the checkpoints work anyway?
This is not a bug sadly, anytime you change maps all progress from previous map is lost.
Also the checkpoints work by, if you die in the puzzle, it will auto rez you at the last previous checkpoint.
Not technically a bug:
There is a design flaw where you can fall into pits you can’t get out of inside the puzzle. This area also lacks any means of killing yourself so you must teleport out. This, naturally, resets the progress. This area is about 4 or 5 checkpoints in so this obviously produces a lot of frustration by essentially forcing a full reset.
Another, possible bug, is that when you leave the map and come back, by going into WvW to repair your gear for example, even if you return next to a checkpoint it won’t register. I think this is because the checkpoints must be completed in order and therefore subsequent checkpoints do not activate unless the previous one is done.
In Drydock Scratch (Silverwastes), you do not lose credit for reaching checkpoints unless your character moves to a different map; changing instances is okay.
Last night (US time zones), however, my instance kicked everyone out. In effect, we were tossed out of the map altogether. People lost event, heart, map completion, etc, i.e. anything we did for the previous 15 minutes or so was gone.
So it’s possible that the game ‘thought’ that the OP left the map (not just got moved to a new instance). Accordingly, that would have been a systemic issue rather than a bug in the JP. (Not that either are good for such a punishing JP.)
I dont suggest doing the jp there right now. With the current unstableness of the patch and the frequent dcs, there’s a chance that you will lose progress midway the lose all the checkpoints. The only way i see to complete the jp right now is a super quick flawless run and hope that it doesnt dc you mid way.
