So far I have completed the story quests with my brother, completing his quests and then completing mine. My brother joined the Durmand Priory and I joined the Order of Whispers. Upon completing his version of the “Setting the Stage” quest I was given a prompt allowing me to auto-complete that quest in my own story, presumably because that particular quest is the same no matter which Order you choose.

After getting through his batch of level 40 quests with the Durmand Priory we headed back to Lion’s Arch to start my questline with the Order of Whispers, however the game took us to the same Durmand Priory quest that we had previously completed in my brother’s story only this time I was the one doing the talking, i.e. it was my quest. Checking the Story Journal confirms that I definitely joined the Order of Whispers, but have been forced into the Durmand Priory by this glitch.

I’d really appreciate it if you guys could somehow change my character back into the Order of Whispers, I really don’t want to have to level another character all the way back to level 40 because of this.

Level: 40
Class: Ranger

It’s not possible to ‘send your character back’ to repeat story episodes. What will happen, if you stop accepting another player’s story progress, is your character will be offered the storyline of the Order it chose, originally, at the next arc segment.

This is intended behavior so that players can continue to play together in one storyline.

Yay, here we go again with this dumb “feature”…. Seriously, I still don’t get why they thought that messing up with one’s storyline for co-op’s sake was a good idea… -_- look how many threads about people puzzled by the “sudden” change in their Order (even if temporary). >.> That’s really stupid. If one would like to continue playing together they could simply join others in their next instance, period. No reason to mess with their storyline… What if one don’t want to do the next step from someone else? They have no choice and are doomed to follow someone’s else story for a few more steps.

Oh one can say “but they can choose if accepting the progress or not”. But well, the prompt asking that doesn’t warn about what’s going to happen and if one chooses to not accept they will need to do that step again, then why to bother playing together? Confuse huh?

This needs to fixed ASAP. Sorry for your loss. I will leave you with no positive feelings about this at all. I tis not my job, I am not with ANet.

I wouldn’t hold my breath in a possible fix as this is not an issue but a badly implemented intended behavior (see my post above). :/
