First off, Guild Wars 2 is technical achievement on many levels, but I do have one major gripe. Steering your character with the mouse looks and feels off compared to other games utilizing this control scheme, for example Dragon Age: Origins.

When holding right click and steering with the mouse, it appears the character doesn’t simply pivot, but is pushed side to side in a slightly jittery manner creating an unnatural feel of movement. It’s hard to tell if this problem stems from character turning animation, camera response, or character response to camera.

Whatever the exact cause of the issue, plenty of other games have gotten this right. For what otherwise is a ground breaking game, Guild Wars 2 cannot afford to slack on something as basic and essential as precise and fluid character/camera control.

A Guild Wars 2 player has documented the issue noted above with this video:

I completely agree with this post. There have been other posts griping about the camera in more detail, but I feel like this one hits the crux of the issue from a simple, focused standpoint.

You turn your character with the mouse a lot in this game. It should look good and feel good.

especially on some of those vistas. can’t have your character plummeting to their death when you’re only a jump away from that hidden area and chest or boss because of quirky turning/response.
