I was set on the Order of Whispers personal story track and entered a friend’s quest instance at level 30 ( I was also lv 30). At the end of the set of cut scenes it offered for me to accept the progression as my own and I ended up on the Durmand Priory track that my friend was on. Now it has me progressing in the Priory but, I can access armor and weapons vendors in the Chantry of Secrets which my friend can not as she isn’t in the Order.

I thought nothing of it until I started my level 50 set of quests and both Tybalt and Sieran were there talking over each other.

Every other time my friend and I have had the same cut scenes but were on different tracks, it never offered for me to accept the progress as my own which is why when it did this time, I took it and then thought I was stuck with the Priory.

My friend and I just checked to see if I could access the armor and weapons vendors in the Priory and turns out, I can! I was allowed to go further into the Priory where important characters recognized me as if I belonged there.

When I ran another character in a different order through the Priory he wasn’t able to access the armor or weapons vendors and was dismissed by important characters.

Interesting, it’s known (and I believe intended) that people can choose to progress along with a friend in a different Order, but I didn’t know that it could result in both armor sets being available, and NPCs of both acknowledging you. I wonder if that’s normal or a new bug?

And hey, look on the bright side – you have a great chance to pretend you’re an Order of Whispers spy inside the Priory!

That’s what I’ve been doing actually!
I looked for known bugs relating to this and didn’t find any so I have no idea. It happened before the most recent patch so it’s not exactly new and decided to really test it last night when I hit lv 60. Honestly the whole thing is rather amusing and doesn’t seem to be breaking anything or effecting any other game play.

Sadly, it’s intended. If you accept the progress you will be put in the same story step as your friend, however you will get back to your story step at the end of that step.

I wonder how devs can’t see how this is confusing and not user friendly given so many threads created about this… (I’ll link a few so soon I find them..)

Btw, here is another recent one.. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Forced-order-choice/

(I wonder when they will realize what is wrong there…)

Ah, thank you! The information is helpful.

It still feels like a bug to me what with how i get scooted around so much and the inconsistent story but, as long as it’s a known thing and I’m not going to get in trouble for it I guess I can live with it.

You are welcome. Yeah, for me too. I can’t see how it could be helpful or the reason for it but sadly it’s how it was intended.
