Charr neck issue
This other picture shows a generic NPC with the same exact problem just less noticeable. Go up to any Charr with the same head model and they have at though. This goes for me at least, not sure if its an issue related to my computer specifically or if its for everyone but I find it worth bringing it up to see where it leads to.
Curious if anyone else notices this or if its related to my computer.
Oh man, I never noticed it before.. Now I can’t unsee it. I have no idea how I missed it, it’s really obvious. You can also see an awful texture seam on my charr’s lower lip/chin, which I’ve posted about before.
Between the polygon issue and the texture problem, it just looks nasty as all get-out.
Managed to get a better cap of it. It looks like yours sticks outward while mine caves in.
Ah, well guess that means it might not just be locally to my computer. I see what you mean by the lower lip/chin too. Only really noticed when there’s light on it though.
This is due to something called (loosely) IK weighting. There are invisible “skeleton” structures that define the animations of characters made up of many connecting segments like a real skeleton.
After a skeleton is made the model’s geometry is assigned a value of how much that particular area moves based on the skeleton movement underneath.
In this case it appears that a few stray areas of the geometry were weighted improperly causing a section of the neck to move unintended due to other parts of the skeleton structure moving.
It’s certainly fixable, but I doubt it’s overly high on their list at the moment. It is quite annoying to look at for sure though.
