My messages were suppressed today while running the FG champ train. I wasn’t spamming chat. The messages were spaced a good bit apart, time wise. I wasn’t saying the same thing over and over, just giving location of where the train was, and where we were gong next for the players that weren’t familiar with the route.

Anyone else run into this?

Yeah message suppression gets screwy sometimes. I remember a while ago one of my guild mates got suppressed and he hadn’t said anything in /map for hours.

Like how many ways do I need to write “keep off the stairs!” at grenth? Stopping to think of a new way to write it every time someone floats into the event and starts twanging their ranger longbow at the risen priest while standing next to Jonez.

I rearrange the words.

1. “Keep off the stairs!”
2. “Off the stairs keep!”
3. “Stairs keep off the!”
4. “Off keep the stairs!”

And so on… funny thing is, I got my chat suppressed one time for doing this. That chat system is wacky.

Bingo! It’s so pointless.
I’m not so worried about most chat channels, just mostly local. Spammers I usually block on the first spam message. So, really, suppression is pointless, and only harms productive use of the channels.

Although, last suppression, it didn’t seem to last as long, not sure if they shortened it. I said something like boar pre started, then suppressed for 5 minutes it seemed. I remember once, it was so long I just decided to log out, couldn’t tell anyone FE started so I was alone. Made me pretty angry.

The only time I ran into it was one time when doing an event, when I wasn’t so much aware of how to play. I was rezzed so many times and said “TY” to so many people that my chat was suppressed.

You only need to say it once, whoever ignored your first warning won’t pay attention to any other ones anyway.

What about newcomers?
What about people who did not deliberately ignore it? What if they didn’t notice it the first time?

Yeah this system needs a dramatic overhaul asap.

I’m gonna go ahead and say the message suppressor is downright kittened.
It doesn’t matter how much time is between the same message repeated. If it’s the exact same thing repeated three times, the fourth time will be suppressed. Waypoints count as the same thing too.

It’s not what I said, reread the full post. Speaking of people floating in as it’s going. Not just one person, usually they listen… or I walk over and whack them (to get their attention). So, had to say this twice… heh
See, sometimes you DO need to say it twice to someone… but not what I said.

This happens to me all the time, trying to get people to events, then bang I’m struck dumb.

It’s really frustrating because the suppression is sooooooo long.

Yeah when you’re linking WP’s you need to type something with it. If just once or twice it doesn’t matter.

Looks like Anet needs to look at the mechanics of chat suppression. (hint hint)

Hmmm This got moved to game bugs. Unsure is this is a true bug or just poor design. :/

The same happens also when i use preview-code from weapons or armor. After the third line i always get suppressed.

I encountered this problem for the first time just a little while ago. I guess I got suppressed for saying “thank you” too much during a huge group event for getting rezzed several times. Seriously, this is really frustrating…
