It’s probably your computer, rather than the game. Check any language settings that might be off.

Basically, the OP got an item with the description partly written in an Asian language.

clicked the link, looked at the picture. Its odd cause everything else is in english, but there is an extra line added between Required Level and Soulbound. Very interesting find.

Been seeing these too, several pulled by various people on Sea of Sorrows

First character is Korean gibberish. the last 3 are Chinese(don’t know Chinese). Doesn’t make any sense.

I noticed several items in my pack like that tonight. Restarted the game and it cleared up. Guildies have reported the same thing.

Yep same issue here, but only on some of my items (shoulders, boots, trinkets). Also noted it on all karma vendors that I checked.

Anyone else seeing parts of the tooltips for items/weapons/armor displayed in Chinese? I just noticed this tonight after completing a story quest, and it is not consistently displayed on every tooltip.

I just came here to report the same thing, I’m not sure exactly when it happened but it was sometime tonight.

This is most likely the result of linking the legendary items in chat, since it only started when people figured out how to do it. Those legendaries links are missing data, like the name and other details so it might be messing up the descriptions for other items.

Just figured out how to fix it, this is a client side corruption of the item descriptions, so deleting your Local.dat file will fix it (or maybe just restarting your client, not sure)

Noticed this showing up on item description pop ups about 15 minutes ago. Attached an example image.

Looks like others are seeing this as well.

Yea I logged in this morning and the bug was gone so restarting client should fix it

my friend saw EVERYTHING in the tooltip as chinese until she left her personal story then I found these later

I notice that many of the items, mobs ,environment seems to suddently have chinese characters written on it….

There Are Chinese Characters All Over on Item Tooltips and Mobs. Whats up?

My guild and I are seeing this all over the place. It is not on all items. There is no dependency on source (crafted, bought, newbie gear, et.).

Started seeing this as well, it seems its randomly affecting items. My town clothes shirt has it, but not other pieces of that skin.

Seeing it on my crafted jewelry. It doesn’t seem to be replacing anything, just added in.

I am also seeing the same..only recently, I would say for the past day. Screenshot is attached. It does not show up for all items that I hover over.

Aye. I’m also having it occur. The characters are not there when I start the game. It seems to mostly get added things when I go from the overflow server into the main server.

The more I switch between the overflow and main, the more things it affects.

So far, I’ve only seen it on items, and as NPC titles.

Yea I started seeing these items last night, chinese characters in item descriptions.

I am now noticing it on MOBS and world items. This is getting REALLY annoying. I am in an Americas World. Not an Asian.

Noticed something odd in my Items today. Some of them now have Asian Characters, I honestly don’t know what’s causing it. They usually appear above soul bound on the item when I mouse over it. I hope this doesn’t mean my account was compromised. Has anyone else seen this?

I am for some reason seeing Chinese text on items and under npcs names. The majority of the text is still in English. There is just an odd line of Chinese text at the bottom of an item…

I noticed this too while crafting Honed Steel Shields.

I saw this last night. Exited the game and restarted, and it went away. Saw it again tonight, and restarting the game did not correct it.

Thought it was a problem perhaps with some local data corruption, until someone asked in map chat about it. Seemed to be a pretty common bug from all the responses I saw.

I have European version of GW2 and since yesterday i find japanese kanji writings on some weapon stats

I’ve seen that too.

I deleted my mail from the gold bots and i was able to recieve it. seems like you have to manually delete the regular mail in order to get others.

I got something strange like that today with some iron ore – seemed to be after I’d salvaged some equipment, not sure if that had anything to do with it or not.

Saw at least one other person in the map chat (Divinitys reach, desolation server) with the same issue.

Seen it on loads of equipments and other things today.
Odd that there has been no client-side patch between not seeing this and it suddenly appearing!
Something server-side I guess?

But the characters don’t make any sense whatsoever. It’s LITERALLY (not exaggerating) the equivalent of something like “fhdsajf ajdkfh kjdas jdahf dja”

It almost looks photoshopped but I’m not an expert :P
