Is there an official statement someplace on why there are now Chinese Lettering showing up on many items?

Someone in Lion’s Arch said that “Guild Wars 2 is hacked” and then linked items into chat, and told us to check ours. I did check mine and several of mine have these letters. Others say the characters say: China Was Here.

What is it?

That’s just one person’s guess. My guess is that the asian characters doesn’t mean anything. I’d try to translate by stroking each lines but the characters shown in the description are too squished.

Once I had an iron ore with a korean name. No hack or anything, just a seldom glitch.
