Just look at the screenshot to see my dilemma.

Possible reproduction steps:
I was grouped with my GF and finished her Priory level 40 quest chain, we left the last mission, I ported to Lion’s arch, went to the Black Lion Trading area where it told me to zone in to get my personal story quest and boom – it was the same Priory quest we had done earlier.

Do be aware, choosing to accept another player’s progress will put you on the same story quest line they are on.

You can revert back to your quest line at the end of the next arc.

Good to know because I was planning on that in the future, however I didn’t choose that option, if I did, I would have had some progress and be farther along I think.

If you did not accept progress, you would be required to replay the story step, so that your character can progress. According to your screenshot, the last story step your character accepted progress for was the last L30 Personal Story step. Thus, your character would now need to complete the first L40 Personal Story step.

If you continue to experience difficulties, you can ‘Submit a Request’ through the ‘Support’ link above/below, and ask for assistance from the CS Team.

My first step was to meet my contact in Lion’s Arch. I went there, etc, it was the Priory mission, which is what I have now, so I have the 40 quest, but it’s the wrong one.

As stated above, you can contact the CS Team, but as far as I have seen on these forums, they don’t have the tools to reset/change/alter/skip/etc. any part of the Personal Story.

Again, you can join another player who is on the ‘correct’ arc, and accept progress, placing you on that arc.
