Guild Wars 2

This isn’t new by any means, but I was finally inspired to post about it because I missed a good chunk of the LA intro cinematic.

I have the game on an SSD, so it loads pretty quickly by GW2 standards. One thing I’ve noticed since I did this some years ago, is that I can often hear things happening for quite a while before the load screen disappears and lets me see them happening. Not just ambient noise, but things actually going on around me (like players using skills to get around in a city).

Today I loaded into LA for the first time since the patch, and I heard the cinematic starting. Later I looked it up on youtube and found I missed 16 seconds of it staring at a loadscreen.

I had that same problem as well. I would enter LA, first the city would load, finish, than jump back to the loading screen again. Meanwhile, the cinematic would “play” during the second loading screen, and end right when loading finishes. I would hear the cinematic music play but be staring at the load art, and not see any of the video at all or catch a one-second clip of the very end. I’ve tried entering in with three of my characters but all have the same result.

I have a HDD, and a 15 Mbps connection speed if it means anything.

Is there an NPC or anything that’ll let you rewatch the cinematic? If not, please add one and fix the bug for other players that may experience this in the days to come.

UPDATE: I logged out and letting the client completely download/install the update before starting the game. I entered LA with another character of mine and was able to watch the video. It may or may not be the issue, but not completing the download before logging in might prevent the cinematic from properly playing.

Mine had already finished before I went there. The double-loadscreen thing is just some inherent part of this game for whatever reason. I remember people complaining about it years ago but…
