Prior to the release of the Heart of Thorns I was able to play GW2 without issue. Sometime after the launch of the expansion, however, my client has been consistently crashing when it tries to update.

I have not altered my PC in any way since I last played the game.

The following are my PC specifications:

PROCESSOR: Intel i7-2600k CPU @ 3.40 Ghz
RAM: DDR3 32 GB
SYSTEM: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
MOTHERBOARD: ASUS P8Z68-V PRO
GRAPHICS: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 2GB

The AreaNet.log is also attached.

In attempt to fix the problem on my own, I have taken the following actions:

- Updated all drivers, from video card to motherboard
- Turned off anti-virus software (Avast Antivirus)
- Deleted Local.dat and reran the client
- Downloaded and ran 64-bit client
- Created a shortcut and ran it with the -repair command
- Uninstalled the game, deleted remaining files from AppData, and reinstalled

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you for the link, however, I have never used Lavasoft’s Anti-Adware on this PC. My diagnostic programs include the standard Windows Defender, Avast! Anti-Virus, and Emsisoft Anti-Malware.

Would any of those programs be causing the same issue, or could I have downloaded something related to Lavasoft from some other source? Is there a directory I should check?

After speaking with a friend, I was redirected to a program that was able to locate and remove the file for me. Thank you for your assistance, my issue appears to be resolved.

Just an FYI, IE often includes Bing, which will carry with it some LavaSoft programs. That’s how it got on my computer.
