I had already finished the clock tower a couple of time this Halloween, but just felt like doing it again today.

I made it to the end twice, waited for the clockwork to shatter and jump in, but both times I just got returned to the beginning instance. While in the past I had been late with jumping and still made it in.

The instance did feel a bit laggy, as pieces didn’t seem to move in their places as smoothly as they normally do when they appear.

Just had exactly this. The pieces at the start would pause halfway before they’d lay down at the start. More than likely it will only register either before or after the lightning animation due to whatever is causing the animations to lag.

Feel sorry for the ones who aren’t aware and going to be very confused as it will cheat people out of it. As for me I think I’ll give up on the idea I had for doing it daily; don’t want the hassle of checking if I’m in a “laggy” instance each time I attempt it.

I’ve been running the Clocktower hundreds of times over the past week, and I’ve seen this happen twice. Like you said, the “tell” seems to be when the pieces that break in other parts of the map lag before settling into place, or otherwise move erradically (at one point I had the pieces spawn visually, but when I jumped the actual hitboxes weren’t there and I fell right through). Both times I’ve had the clock tower fail to register my jump into the clock face, its been during a “laggy” run in which the pieces didn’t move right.

It doesn’t seem to happen every time the lag happens either, though. I’ve had laggy platform runs where the clock face worked just fine as well. But its certainly the best clue as to the cause, there’s some correlation between the two things.
