There seems to be a bug with the drop rate. Prior to picking up the chest and starting the collection I received at least 5-6 Commander Spoons, with about 1.5-3hrs of game play.
Yesterday I was in WvW for 5hrs. No spoon drop. Today 3hrs still no spoon drop.
So after I opened and started the spoon collecting I have received 0 spoons. Prior to opening and starting the spoon collection chest I had 5-6 spoons. I could not get the collection piece from the guy in the game until Saturday. So i had sold my spoons as they were basically worthless and didnt count towards any collections.

Also, my new mini achievements are broken. I account bound several of them prior to the latest patch and they did not count towards the new achievement. Could this please be fixed?

The spoons are based on RNG. I can confirm they will drop, you just have to keep killing NPCs and such. I don’t believe they can drop from players, but I’m not 100% sure on that. You might be able to kill stuff in EotM for them too.

As for the mini achievement, I’m not sure. By latest patch, do you mean the latest small update they did or are you referring to the actual feature patch?

I just had 2 drop from couple of camp guards. Both at same time.

Kind of silly that I had up to 6 prior to opening up the spoon collection box/achievement. Then I get 0 after 8+hrs of game play.

RNG is RNG. But if it helps, if you play WvW on any kind of regular basis, you can expect to get your spoon sometime. It’s not that rare of a drop.
