Connection Bug
My bf and I are having the same connection issues now. Usually a router restart would do the trick, but nope.
Everything else is working fine. I was fairly sure it was something our side until I saw your post.
also here.
my internet connection is fine, as i do have access to any other internet requiring media. there’s something wrong with the game…
Ok that’s good to know that im not alone with this problem, did you guys get this problem today?
Am also getting “connection error(s) detected” when trying to log on, played the game late last night, without issues. Everything else works fine (and yes, restarting and such solutions has been gone through, so please don’t be “helpful” and suggest this).

just tried first time today 10 minutes ago… guess it’s something rather new since this post was written 20 minutes ago
no I have had this problem since I woke up which was 8AM, but I have been trying to solve the problem by restarting deleting temp files and reinstalling the game which didnt work, and I gave up and just went and wrote a topic
And you guys are also on EU?
you could try the -assetsrv command line in the shortcut
-assetsrv 151.249.89.19:80
worked for me.
Edit: http://www.gw2status.de/ , you can get a list of all the servers, you want a asset server that is up and running.
Someone say game crash must be related to OOM
when you read the log it’s not related to that whatsoever…

Got the same problem at the moment. Got no problem with GW1. Only GW2 i can’t log in to. And yes im also on EU. But the rest of my Guild have no problems logging into GW2. So only a few people have this problem i guess.

This worked for me too, and yes, I’m on EU servers.
Also from EU and the fix UnknownFreak provided works.
Thanks!
Thanks that worked

Go to properties (for Guild Wars 2).
Change the shortcut to:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -assetsrv 151.249.89.19:80

many thanks!
you are all welcome <3, had the same issue, and I looked around the forums (had seen a similar post before) tested it and it did not work, and then I realized, there is a server list I had bookmarked, and tested again (with a server that had a no timeout state) and it worked.

You’re a wizard harry!
Thanks mate, worked:D
Is there any way to do this if I run the game through steam? Got the same error as everyone else…
Same for me, and i dunno how to add that IP thing to my shortcut. And im NA not EU so im not sure if i should even try to change that IP thing.
It’s not a bug but a server issue, so this thread should be in the Technical Issues forum, where there is already a thread on this issue.
You should also file a support ticket to let them know about the problem so it can be fixed since support rarely reads these forums.
Came back from work and tried to connect : “Connection error(s) detected. Retrying…”. Everything else on my computer works.
Edit : That worked for me

Same here … I came back from work and I get this:
http://i.imgur.com/pkr1aAD.jpg
I’m from Montreal, Canada.
Same as garull, from Montreal and have this connection error upon launching the game.
I’m also from the Montreal region and I’m having problems with the game. Unfortunately, I didn’t know about the possible fix and tried to reinstall the game. Now I don’t even have the client on my computer anymore.
btw, my case is that I have installed the game to another disc, not disc C, as it is common. for me, I just put [-assetsrv 151.249.89.19:80] after the written stuff in the “Object” part in the properties of the shortcut. just so people that don’t quite understand the written before, could try it. I might not be the only 1 that didn’t use disc C for games. I hope it will help at least 1 guy/girl out there ^^
