Connection error(s) detected. Retrying.
Didnt work for me either
I was just playing about 30 minutes ago, took a break for dinner and now can’t connect
Appreciate the suggestion. I have a friend in a different state that was able to get in. Wonder if it’s something localized here. Seems odd. Anyone else having this issue in Colorado or using CenturyLink?
Nope, I’m in Texas on Suddenlink
And out of the blue it just let me in
I am from Colorado with CenturyLink and have not been able to connect for about an hour.
Still no luck here. Going to restart this system again.
Similar issue, similar location.
the game is giving me the same errors on all the comps we have so it has to be guildwars2 not the players
I know some players getting in and some not. Now wondering if it’s a dns issue. May just take some time. Would love to hear something from anet.
Same thing happening here… have been trying for almost 3 hours to get the log in to come up. Have rebooted etc. with no luck.
Also in Colorado with CenturyLink and getting the same error. /shrug
I’m in Boulder, CO, and also having this issue
also… are there any Colorado only guilds out there? would be funny to join a state only guild
same issue here since about 7:30 pm-11:00 pm cst, us .
3 other people I know in my area having the same issue …
WHATS GOING ON A-NET …?
Same problem here, also in Colorado with CenturyLink.
I’m in Missouri, but I have CenturyLink and haven’t been able to connect to the game either. I can connect to Guild Wars 1, but not GW2.
so i was on around 3pm. got off to eat and maybe 30-35 minutes later the error started. also live in CO with centurylink. too funny we all have the same issue
I’m in MO with centurylink and having the same problems. It sure would be nice to get some response from anet letting us know if they are working with centurylink to figure out this problem or even if there is a work around for this. I suggest we all call and complain to our ISP (centurylink) and explain that it is only their customers having this problem and if they don’t fix it we will cancel their crappy internet offering.
I’m in Colorado with CenturyLink, I’m wondering what’s going on? I’ll wait until morning than see if it comes back, too bad really, I needed to finish BF dailies.
Still getting connection error(s) detected retrying. It’s been almost 12 hours and still not able to log in. Is anyone working on a resolution to this issue?
Missouri and century link here too. I’ve been having the same problem on both computers. I’ve reset my modem even though everything else net wise has been working fine. I noticed it starting at 6 p.m. yesterday. Tried this morning and still the same thing. I’m starting to twitch thinking about my time gated stuff I’ve missed out on.
I’m so glad it’s not just me. I Tried the above fix, didn’t work. 3 different computers, 2 diff routers.
come on Anet ! Today is the first day of my vacation… wtf
Indiana
Still not working after more than 12 hours.
I’m in the Midwest, and also using CenturyLink, and I’m getting the same message, “Connection error(s) detected. Retrying…” I have not been able to find any comments or posts from the GW2 team addressing the issue. Looking at the previous posts, it seems this has been an issue for more than just a few hours for some of us.
Been down for about 12 hours now. South Dakota
I’m in Colorado, CenturyLink, same issue.
C’mon Anet.
Another Colorado/CenturyLink player not able to get on. Currently 8:27 AM here. So is it Anet or CenturyLink that’s the problem?

I am guessing that it’s a particular server on their end, since I am not having connectivity problems with anything else.
Plus: http://www.mmoserverstatus.com/guild_wars_2 says that only one server is not responding, but I am not sure how accurate that is.
Wow this is very wild. I am in the Denver area using Centurylink too. I am having the same issues as described above. I sent in a support ticket, with the test files, hopefully this gets resolved soon! I want to raid tonight with my guild.
Yeah, I can get on other MMO games (Guild Wars 1, No Man’s Sky, etc) as well.
I’ve also submitted a ticket.

I just have a quick update for my situation for the hell of it I disabled my regular connection, and linked to my iPhone for wireless access. This worked to get me into GW2. I didn’t play a ton due to it’s going to be using a ton of LTE data. I have a feeling Centurylink is the issue and I am going to call them now.
-Denver, CO
I’m contacting CenturyLink at the moment. I don’t expect any immediate resolution from them, but wanted to make them aware.
I’ve contacted CenturyLink everything seams fine on their end …Must be a Gw2 / A-net issue ….would be nice if they would acknowledge this and fix it …
I went through my router setup, enabled “advanced DNS service” on my router. This has something to do with address correction and anti-phishing.
I can connect now. I hope the rest of you find a way…. good luck.
I managed to log in once but before and after that I was met with connection errors
Seems that if it were a gw2 issue it would affect everyone. Since so many having this issue use CenturyLink it would make sense that the issue is on their end. Unless anet is specifically blocking CenturyLink users out – which would be weird. And I totally agree, Anet needs to acknowledge the issue.

CenturyLink has denied being the problem, saying to contact Anet.
Husband tried changing DNS server, with no luck.
I contacted CenturyLink and was told that they are showing everything is working properly and having no issues and that I need to contact Anet.
good luck contacting Arena.net …when you call the number listed on their web site , you get a recording with options regarding employment , tec-sup ( witch brings you back here ) , or you can leave a message for someone to return your call …
And yet another “in Missouri using Centurylink, unable to connect to GW2 since last night” At the very least it isn’t just me. Small consolation though.
This is almost certainly an issue that CenturyLink needs to fix, despite what their low level tech support is saying. Anet can at best notify CenturyLink that there’s a problem and wait for them to fix it.
The internet is made up of a bunch of different ISPs. In order for your packets to get from you to Anet, they need to go over multiple ISP’s networks. CenturyLink doesn’t have a direct connection to Anet, and probably doesn’t even have a direct connection to the ISP that Anet uses. Which means there’s at least 3 networks at play, more likely 4 or more. The path your traffic takes looks something like this:
1) Your computer and modem/router
2) Your connection to CenturyLink
3) A few routers within CenturyLink’s network
4) Another (transit) ISP CenturyLink sends their traffic
5) A few routers within that transit provider’s network
6) The transit provider’s connection to Anet’s ISP
7) A few routers in Anet’s ISP network
8) Anet’s connection to their ISP
9) Anet’s network and servers
At some step along the path, one (or more) of the routers don’t know where to send the traffic to get to the next step. Since most in the thread are using CenturyLink, my bet is at step 3 or 4, or a small chance at 5. If it was any further down the list, there would be a lot more people from multiple ISP’s saying that couldn’t connect.
I got nowhere with CenturyLink when I contacted them, and just like everyone else here, CenturyLink says “It’s not our problem, contact OEM.” I gave Anet an update and asked them to push the issue with CenturyLink, still no response from Anet, maybe it’s time to start venting on Twitter.
It could be that the single Anet server that appears to be having issues services Colorado, Missouri and the surrounding area. It may indeed have nothing to do with CenturyLink…but who can tell for sure?

Anet doesn’t have game servers in Colorado or Missouri. Nor do their servers service specific locations. All the NA game servers are at a datacenter in Texas.
Post a traceroute between you and IP 64.25.38.241 (server I’m connected to and playing fine on right now) and it’ll be pretty easy to tell for sure.
Sorry for the ignorance…but how does one do a “traceroute”? I tried that in command prompt, but it was unrecognized. Is it the same as a “ping”?

Here is the tracert that I just ran to the IP that you said. I don’t really know how to interperet this, maybe you can.

EDIT: Just ran tracert on the ip of the server that I am trying to play on … I think. I ran “netstat -b” and got an ip of “server-54-84-212-48” which resolved to “198.105.254.23”
here is that tracert:

I have been having the same issues as everyone else since last night, but I’m connecting from Canada.
After some research I have found a solution to bypass the time out issue (at least for me).
Issue seems to be with the assetcdn.101.ArenaNetworks.com server.
I found another IP through a google search and edited my hosts file (‘C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts’) and added the following line:
174.35.56.164 assetcdn.101.arenanetworks.com
This has the game connecting and loading for me now.
