Keeker, it looks like you’re able to reach the game servers. What that shows is that your ISP is Qwest, they pass the traffic on to Level 3. Anet uses Level 3 as one of their ISPs, so Level 3 send the traffic straight to Anet. Your connection to Anet looks fine. We need a traceroute from someone having trouble coming from CenturyLink to tell where the issue lies.

1. Centurylink IS Qwest. they changed their name
2. I AM having trouble, look at my post just below my first one.

Ah, I forgot about the name change. But 198.105.254.23 isn’t anything to do with Arenanet. It’s something called Searchguide.

Source: whois.arin.net
IP Address: 198.105.254.23 (United States)
Name: SEARCHGUIDE
Handle: NET-198-105-240-0-1
Registration Date: 7/10/12

Org Handle: SG-63
Address: 1942 Broadway

City: BoulderState/Province: COPostal Code: 80302Country: UNITED STATES

Frankly, the name sounds suspicious and I’ve found at least one site out there saying its malware that does DNS redirects, which could definitely explain connection issues.

Still getting the same exact thing. I’m a computer idiot so I guess I get to sit back and twiddle my kitten thumbs on my night off till it gets fixed.

Same situation, Colorado here, would be nice for acknowledgement that there is a current issue and they are working on it. Been almost 24yrs for a lot of players.

I’m getting a tad cranky because we have no responses at all from anyone except “it’s not us”. Would be nice to at least hear something to the effect of " we are working on it" from someone.

Estes Park, Colorado here, Century Link as well.. All my other devices and apps are working fine though. Seems like it’s on A-nets side not the ISP

It does seem to be only Anet. My other apps and devices are all fine as well. I know better than to call Centurylink. Their service is horrid. I simply have no choice where I live.

True! So I guess we’ll use microbrews as leverage. If we get to log on, we’ll continue to share the wealth. Otherwise, Tyiey and I will drink it all before it can leave Colorado. Muhahahaha! (Hope your liver is in top form)

Here’s a troubleshoot some have had success with:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Connection-error-s-detected-Retrying-100/first#post5016682

This, or using a VPN; whichever you are more comfortable with.

Good luck.

Figured out how to easily fix the issue….

https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/93290408-Problems-Downloading-or-Patching
as the winsock reset is irrelevant to the issue at hand:

1. go to the “slow or stuck downloads” section and perform the following actions. The instructions are somewhat vague so I’ll try to be a bit more comprehensive.

2. right click your GW2 DESKTOP icon and select “open file location”. In the open folder, right click the primary Gw2 icon (not Gw2-64) and create shortcut. The primary icon IS the .exe file even though it doesn’t show.

3.It will create a new icon within the open folder (Gw2 – Shortcut). Anets directions specify to rename it although it doesn’t matter either way. Right click and select properties

4.Copy and paste -assetsrv 174.35.71.9:80 in the target line section AFTER the last (")(quotation mark); make sure there is a space between as well. Click OK and double click the created shortcut (Gw2 – Shortcut). Problem Solved!!!

Just got off of the phone with Centurylink. All we did was clear the DNS cache and direct me to google. I couldn’t for the life of me recreate what we did but I do know it worked. So calling them fixed the issue Just wanted to give everyone a heads up

here is the answer if nobody has found it already.

https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/93290408-Problems-Downloading-or-Patching

right click your shortcut and in the target bar put this:
“YOURGW2LOCATION\Gw2.exe” -assetsrv 174.35.71.9:80

i have centurylink in aurora, co. havent been able to login for about 30 hours until i added the asset server to my target bar. and im sorry to say arena net but for the entire centurylink community in the state of colorado to have the same issue. something is without a doubt messed up on YOUR end.

Having issues since yesterday with logging in with GW2. It keeps giving me the message (Connection error(s) detected…..retrying). I live in Missouri and have centurylink I’ve been trying all day so far today and nothing still. Does anyone know how I can fix the issue or if it will be resolved by Anet. Thanks

I also live in Missouri and have Centurylink. I posted in https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/game-client-will-not-get-to-log-in-screen/page/3#post6322534 about trying different dns numbers for 3 hours. Centurylink had to of changed something on their end with their dns numbers, when any other dns numbers work not affiliated with Centurylink.
