I was told by passerby that in order to get to the vista that is on top of the tower near launcher that i had to go the launcher and talk to the guy. Well i did so and was asked if i wanted to bet where the launcher would launch and i answered the tower cus i assumed this was part of the mechanic that would launch me to the tower. it was a bet but i assumed this was something i had to do to be launched and i would win thebet when it launched me to the tower so like i said i chose tower and it took every bit of money i had. wich is only 50 silver but im just starting the game and its just crappy to feal like you have been conned in a way. also after he took my money he still will not launch me to the tower cus he says in not ready for it or something.

consider yourself lucky you lost only 50 silver..
i had by that moment 2 gold, and i clicked the dialog button many times becouse of lag, and i lost all 2 gold to that quest..
yeah.. went from bein a whealty low level to 36coper in a 4 clicks.. cool story huh? i cryed a little

so after standing around and trying to click on the catapult for like ten minutes i was finally able to activate the catapult. regardless wether this is my fault or not if this is a mini game then it should give a little more instructin and possibly a “are you sure” message before you click the bet button and you should also be able to adjust what your betting not bet everything you have. i just feal this whole this is broken and in my eyes NWAI

i guess 50 silver isnt alot and im sorry for your loss tuks. just goes to show that this mini game or w/e it is supposed to be is not really doing anyone any good unless they just happen to guess it right and double ther purse. i think the betting should be taken out completely unless its modified and explained better. its a pretty big setback for anyone on the losing end so do us all a favor and get rid of it plz

is not bad enough this quest is bugged most of the time as the npc is a thief. English is not my first language and in the rush to complete the quest (there was a time limit bar!!) i lost 50 silver!!(my luck is that I realized the first time but could have lost much more!!!!!) this ridiculous theft discouraged me keep playing the game…

The amount being asked to gamble is way too much for a low (15-25) level. It should be 1 silver at most, or 50 copper. In fact that whole event needs to be reworked so that it’s clearer to the players how it’s accomplished. I ran over that whole patch of ground for close to an hour trying to figure out how the “cattleputt” worked, including placing a couple of bets with its operator, before I stumbled, pretty much completely by accident, across the popup box at its front explaining how to work the device so that it fired my character at the tower.

Wut? Did they change something after Beta? When I was on my Beta Sylvari engineer, I recall watching a Charr engineer NPC jerking around launching cows in the direction of an inaccessible tower. Didn’t take two clicks to figure out how to access that Vista. Of course I waited till he ran out fo cows, sent his assistant for more cows before I approached the “cow-tapult” chamber to launch myself up there. Didn’t even talk to the guy. Wouldn’t even give him two coppers to rub together even if I knew giving him coin was an option.

Honestly all I see on these bug forums are people crying because they didn’t read the quest text and/or didn’t pay attention. This isn’t another MMo where you just click stuff to get thru the text. I have no sympathy for these people.

My 9 year old son plays this game.. hes now 76 with 0 help from me. He messed up buying his 2 gold skill point book and bought the second 1 again. Did he cry and come to this forum saying people shouldnt be allowed to buy the same book twice? Nope. He shrugged his shoulders and went back to killing stuff. When he got enough gold again in 2 lvls he made dang sure he bought the right book.

I was proud of him. Wonder what your parents think.

well like i said i was directed to speak to the guy to get launched to the tower and when i spoke to him a dialogue box came up with 3 options and a timer so i chose the one that said the tower beleiving maybe that was part of the mechanic. yes maybe it was my fault for not paying more attention but ther was a very quik timer on it. im not whining and crying im just trying to bring it to the attention of others and possibly the devs to maybe give a little more info and rework the mini game if thats even what it is. the “my 9 year old is smarter then you guys” is really not needed. Go ahead and bash someone for making a mistake and maybe wanting a little confirmation that hes not the only one. Im glad your proud of your son but i really dont see as how that has anything to do with the issue.

I’m not bashing you. I am giving you an example of how you might deal with your mistake as well as not making further mistakes in the future. Don’t depend on other people to confirm that they made a mistake as well so that you don’t feel as bad. Instead, learn from it and take charge of your own game play.

Looks like anet is fixing this issue (at least as of this afternoon 9-15-2012) and glad that they are at least aware and repairing. ATM you cannot interface with the NPC or lose money, and a message apears in big red letters telling you that the “event” is down for maintenance. Sucks that you people got the shaft on this, but it happens and hopefully you will get some real Karma ; )
