Cragstead Elixir Bottles
Can I get some sort of response on this?
I remember there used to be elixir bottles in one of the personal story quests, but it was removed eventually. I don’t think anyone got in trouble with it, but I too am curious as if I could save some karma or money on the thirst slayer title, I’d be happy. At the same time, it makes you invulnerable so you could just afk the area and set it to autoattack. so it doesn’t really matter if it’s in a combat area. the achievement is kind of absurd, but I would hate to be banned because I did that.
So far I’ve made this forum post, created a support ticket, PM’ed Gaile, and asked in a bug report in-game. I’ve this far only received a canned generic response that didn’t answer my question from the support ticket (which also directed me to post on the forum despite me providing a link to this post in the support ticket).
Is it normal for aNet and support to take this long to respond to a user?
That was not a canned response. That was me, answering you to the best of my ability, with the information that I had on hand. Yes, sometimes it takes a while to get a response. Such things need to be assessed and reviewed, rather than someone giving an “It’s ok” or “That’s an exploit!” answer that may end up being in error.
As I said in the ticket, we appreciate your patience as you await further information. We will update this thread when we have that info.

That comment was made before your involvement on the ticket, in reference to the apparently generic response from GM Untharin.
Thank you Gaile Gray, I’m thankful this is getting a response, I’ll wait patiently for the verdict.
There are other sources in the game besides Cragstad, where you can find environmental items that generate thirst points . There is also a personal story that allows one to repeatedly drink and earn points (without cost).
But none of these are “free” — they all require spending enough time that I think nearly everyone would be financially better off to invest that same effort farming coin/loot instead and then buying drinks. (It’s also hellishly boring to click that many times, as anyone who earned the equivalent title in GW1 prior to 2011 is aware.)
One person estimated that it would require 75,000 mouse clicks to use 700,000 karma. Another estimated about 42 hours of non-stop clicking to use the personal story method. The theoretically approved system requires buying drinks at about ~8c/point for a total of 80 gold to earn the achievement.
In the end, all you get for that effort and/or gold are 36 extra achievement points, but no display title and no in-game advantage. Therefore, I’d be very surprised if ANet cares enough about the loopholes above to suspend a player for using them or even to make code changes to remove the work-arounds from the game.
While all that is true, I’d rather be safe than sorry. for the most part.

Thank you. I am resending the email as I do not believe I’ve received an answer.
