If you use an NVIDIA card, especially a newer card, I just experienced the crashing problems I’ve been seeing a lot of people having, my computer is a beast:
Intel i7 3790k 4.0GHz
16 GB DDR3 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
So you might think, okay, it shouldn’t crash, right? Wrong. Sometimes even specific versions of the drivers can be unstable (thus why there are updates).
I had the driver installed from the disc that the card came with (GeForce Game Ready Driver version 350.xx), and never bothered updating because nothing put enough stress on it to reveal that version’s instability. Until now. But that’s okay, the latest driver version solved that issue, version 361.43.
If you experience “driver failed to install”, don’t worry, I did too. It was my COMODO Firewall getting in the way, just disable or uninstall anti-virus applications before you install the driver, and you shouldn’t experience any problems during installation.
If none of these options work for you, there’s some workarounds.
Setting your graphics option: Player Model Limit: Lowest
Launch the application fresh using the lowest setting, simply changing the setting after you are in the game will not prevent the application from accumulating memory usage.
Be aware this wont completely solve the crashing issue, most likely due to an unstable driver issue.
Also, try logging into your guild wars account here https://account.arena.net/content
then scroll down to “other clients” and try Windows 64-bit [BETA] if you are on a 64-bit operating system, this will allow guild wars to use above 4096MB (4GB) of memory, and if you have a beastly computer, it will make the game run better at the least.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
