Q:
Hi There,
A few weeks back I had been crashing a lot and then stopped crashing after this particular update. Recently, there was a new patch for ‘Cutthroat Politics’ and now I have began to crash a lot again.
Can anyone please give me a solution to stop the crashing. People have told me not to contact Arena Net because, it’s a waste of time… all they tell you is to update your video drivers and it still doesn’t work.
Thanks

You’re actually experiencing several different errors/crashes.
Some are out of memory errors, you can try closing out as many background processes as possible; this is a common problem in 32 bit windows since gw2 is a resource hog (os uses at least .5gb plus gw2 uses ~1.5gb minimum) leaving you not much wiggle room. You can test that by running msconfig, disabling all startup programs, then restart your computer. (you can re-enable after by repeating those steps, but enabling them)
However, I think part of the problem maybe your video card drivers, you are getting some graphics errors as well. You may want to go to nvidias website and get the latest ones.
It’s ever a bad idea to run a repair on your client… Create a new shortcut for gw2.exe, right click on it and go to properties, find the shortcut target/path and add “* -repair*” to the very end of the target/path (excluding the quotation marks, but including the space). It should look like this at the end: … Gw2.exe" -repair
Then click ok to save and finally, run it.
Lastly, you may want to verify you aren’t starting to have hardware failure, run a check disk on your hard drive and a memtest on your ram (cannot access errors point to hard drive issues and I saw a couple other memory errors). These aren’t foolproof at detecting failure in the early stages… Oddly enough, gw2 is great at finding system faults… But the only sure way to test is to swap out the suspected parts for working pieces and test the game for errors again.
I do hope this helps, post back if you have any further questions.
Post system specs and export your crash log (or arenanet.log) as a .txt file and attach it with more posting & formatting options below.
FYI, this should probably be in the tech support forum unless you are crashing on a particular sequence of events or such (I.e. a bug lol).
the only reason i can think of is “Out of memory”, and that is the cause of the crash
try to see the system resources while running the game, could help you determine if it’s memory related
