So after 2 hours of work on the Dragons Stand meta event, and finally completing it, you get 15 minutes to go to the vendors. This is fine, except when you happen to crash immediately after the event and when you try to join your party on the map you were on all you get is this:

Network Error.
Please check your Internet connection and try again.
(Code=178:9:13:2932:101)

This is infuriating, especially since all I need is the Mistward Headwrap inscription for the armor set, which can only be acquired on this map after the Meta Event as far as I know. I know a lot of other people have been upset with crash errors as well, and it would be nice to have a reserved spot on the map you were on for at least a couple minutes so you’re able to get back in with no issues.

All I wanted was my inscription.

How about crashing right at 0% and coming back to a dead instance then getting that message on a re-log. 2 hours of work for nothing. Might add at least 20 other people had the same thing happen to them so it’s not just me. This is not just DS, no this happens anywhere now. GW2 is simply not stable, it will crash. I have sent in a whole lot of crash reports now, over a years worth but I guess they can’t/won’t fix it so I am out of luck. Yay!

Had this problem too.

Was on my way to loot the chest and speak to merchant after beating the meta when the game disconnected.

Can’t rejoin my party.

Someone in my guild said they lock the map after a win, but why lock out people who were there for that win.

Had this happen tonight. During the final fight, about 90% done with the fight and like 1 hour and 30 minutes in, the game disconnected me for no apparent reason. My internet was still fine, because I checked as it happened. Upon immediately logging back in from the launcher I was put in an overflow. There were a few others standing around on the islands, so they must have been misplaced from the same or another map as well. I tried to join my party but it gave the map is full error. A few minutes later it just gave the above “network” error.

If they really do lock the map, understandable because they want people to earn it, but at least have a proper error to inform users of that, as well as not locking out the people they had been contributing for over an hour. That is quite aggravating for obvious reasons.

It happens to me on any map really. Random crashes.
All drivers are up to date, I ran client repair, and Ive lowered settings (despite having a pretty good comp). Nothing helps.

also to add
They need to change event credit. If youve put in effort onto a map/event then even if you DC it should store your ID and let you back in/GIVE you credit for doing the event if the event finishes before you can get back in and/or if you get put on another map.

For a lot of people Guild Wars 2 is not stable and not fit for purpose.

People are getting crashes and disconnects all over the place. Some can play for an hour, some crash after a mere 10min.

Some had succes dialing down their graphics to non-existant, and it might have something to do with densely populated areas. But to avoid dense areas is to avoid WvW and Maguuma alltogether. For some even that isn’t enough.

And whatever system they claim should be in place to give people a grace period to log back in, is also broken.

If you have more than 4 GB of ram use the 64-bit client. If you’re using the 32-bit client, changes your graphic settings (F11) to best performance to significantly reduce the likelihood of crashing.

TOTALLY AGREE. There should be a way to still get credit for you hour and a half or two hours. Crash, lock up, whatever it is and all that is gone, then the time limit is up and your done for. Well I found this post by doing a Google search of “Code=178:9:13:2932:101” (with nothing else added!). Yes, I have the identical problem in Dragon’s Stand (although the circumstances leading up to it were slightly different).

The key thing is that, like the original poster, if you need to restart GW2 for any reason, it seems that the server cannot re-connect you to the instance you were in when you use the “Join in Dragon’s Stand” option on an online squad member.

The “Please check your Internet connection and try again.” part is pure BS. My connection is fine and in fact I have a snapshot showing the blue dots for squad members who were still moving around in the islands in the instance that the server would not let me rejoin.

Unlike some players, I am well deposed towards ArenaNet and understand how difficult it must be to produce such amazing content, without too many bugs or “design limitations”. I still feel, however, that this particular issue is causing a lot of grief amongst the player community, along with some of the other different bugs that can cause DS to fail right at the end after 2hrs+ involvement by the players.

One of the things I loved about the original guild wars, was that if I had a computer or gw problem and had to restart gw, even after a few minutes, I was given the option to try and rejoin the instance, which almost invariably worked (unless there was a genuine Internet or network problem). That was a wonderful feature, especially when doing long missions in hard mode in a party of 8 or less, where loosing one person was significant. It must be much more difficult with the numbers in gw2, but surely it could be done?

I will add on a positive note, that I do LOVE the battles in DS and fighting the “Mouth of Mordremoth” amongst the islands is truly an epic battle, that I personally can put up with wasting 2 hrs plus effort with no end rewards about 1 in 4 times I have managed to join an “organised” map instance that has a chance of completing it.

I have only experienced 1 time where a failure was due to player ineptitude, all other times were fail due to bug, this one or one of the others (like the one where what should be the end cutscene, instead throws everyone out of the instance!).

I’m getting the exact same issue. Crash ? Error Report ? Desktop. Maybe 30 seconds before killing MordreMouth in Dragon’s Stand. Has happened twice now, both before and after 32-bit client update. (Though update did almost completely eliminate crashing for me elsewhere.) When I restart the game and log in, I can’t rejoin my squad/party, and get the following error:
“Network Error.
Please check your Internet connection and try again.
(Code=178:9:13:2932:101)”
I get that Anet doesn’t want people to reap what they do not sow, but surely it wouldn’t be too difficult to have some kind of flag on someone who crashes to let them back into the Dragon Stand map that they just spent literally an hour and a half completing? And then they get no loot. It’s very frustrating and it makes me not want to do any of the larger event chains.

Before people comment on it, I can’t use the 64-bit client because it hardlocks my entire PC, much worse than a CTD, and I’ve already reduced visuals.

Happened to me right now. I can’t get back to the dragon’s stand map where all my squad is. That kitten dragon was at <5% when my network crashed And of course I have no troubles going to other maps. Weather it is this a bug or a measure to ensure nobody enters the map just to kill the boss, please fix it.

the least you could do is, once a player is on a certain map (even if it’s “full”) re-connect them to that same map “lock-in” their position, because it ruins the entire game to spend hours participating in “fun” events, just to have it stolen away at the last minute, only to be dumped into some “overflow” map, which you have no hope of winning with the few other unfortunate players who also crashed from the only map that has a chance of defeating these bosses (since they’re balanced to require a high number of players to win) … I can understand if you can’t figure out why it’s crashing, it’s probably pretty complex, but a workaround like allowing people to come back to the same map they were just playing on… that would help it not be a complete failure. Just saying -_- … If this problem isn’t resolved soon, I’m sure the frustration of all of your players will soon cause them to quit the game, thus no more gem purchases, thus no more word-of-mouth recommendations, thus the game dies… so please hurry ArenaNet, hurry like your life of your game depends on it, because it does.

did some experimenting with settings, the most important setting is Character Model Limit set it to low or lowest if you want to ensure that you don’t crash during high population situations, such as world bosses…

Character Model Limit: Low (this will cull or make excess players invisible)
Character Model Quality: Medium (this will make the few visible players have some slight detail, so it’s not completely ugly)

these worked without a crash during a world boss.

also, with the latest nVidia cards, this crash was happening on GeForce Game Ready Driver version 350
Updating the graphics driver to version 361.43 (latest) seemed to solve the problem (as far as I can tell) no crashes on highest settings so far… If you use NVIDIA GeForce Experience or even the downloaded installer from the website, please note: my driver installation would fail while I had COMODO firewall running so please disable things like that, such as anti-virus, firewall, etc. unplug your internet if you’re worried, and it should install correctly. so far, 4 world bosses without a crash so you guys should really take a look at your drivers, I was just victim of the crashings only a couple hours ago, and after some troubleshooting, I solved the problem on my end. I eneded up going on a bit of a rant so I have outlined this in order to make it easier for those looking for specific information.

~~~Technical/History~~~
First let me say that I was constantly crashing both in and out of HoT zones ever since I returned to the game. Prior to leaving I would crash after a few hours of playing but that was no big deal. Back then I was also able to run with medium-high custom settings and still get 30-40 fps. This was acceptable to me though it may not be for some. Prior to returning I had upgraded my video card and was shocked to find that I was averaging about 12 fps with the same settings while sitting in town and would get something like 2 fps while doing things such as the meta in DS. Dropping ALL of my settings to the lowest possible setting has yielded no boost in fps in town and I am around 8 fps in DS. I even tried swapping my video cards back out and the results were even worse.
After crashing out on the final CS in DS last night and the following run failed horribly I was inordinately upset to say the least. I resolved to install the 64 bit client, which I did this morning. I got absolutely no fps or performance boost of any kind from installing it however I did notice that I was able to remain online for over 3 hours before crashing and this did include a run in DS. However after that crash my client didn’t want to start up again. After rebooting I noticed that I was once again crashing more often. This, however, may have been due simply to the fact that I was running the meta in DS back to back.
So after finally having run it enough times and opening enough pods to get my machetes down to a manageable number I thought to myself 15 is doable and proceeded to open pods. At only 5 pods in my game disconnects and puts me back at the log in screen. Assuming that this was simply a network disconnect I immediately log back in. I was gone for no longer than 30 seconds! However when I got back I was in a different instance of the DS map and was unable to rejoin the instance that I had disconnected from. That is when I got this odd network message, which made no sense and ended up here.
~~~Fundamental Views~~~

Though I understand the outcry for ArenaNet to make it possible to reenter a map after having been disconnected I think everyone is missing the simple fact that in every other aspect of the game, to my knowledge, you do an “event” you get a reward. That may be in the form of an on screen chest or a physically manifested chest in the game or both and that is it. This new content where you get “keys” as rewards is about the most idiotic thing I have heard of in 16 years of MMO gaming (across MANY different games).

~~~Begin Rant~~~
You spend 30 minutes trying to make sure everyone gets into the same map and getting the map organized. This is followed by an hour and a half, IF you are extremely lucky to get in with a skilled group, doing the events. Once you have completed the event chain you then have to sort your inventory of all the junk you have collected as fast as possible and buy any items that you may need quickly while hoping you have enough room before going to open pods. For the task of opening these pods you are given 15? minutes. These pods are not even all located in the same place and some of the places are hard to get to and/or need certain mastery in order to get to. On top of that, it isn’t like you can teleport directly to the outside of these places no you have to teleport to a waypoint close to them. Then you run around, hoping not to get killed by the random mobs and bosses even, while you try to open these pods. Not only that but you are probably going to have to try to sort your inventory yet again WHILE preforming this task. While these pods contain other items as well the Crystaline ore that you get from them is now used as both a currency and a crafting item. Supposing you use all of your machetes to open the pods you are looking at an average of about 15-20 ore per run. Now you must hurry back to the vendor at the very end of the map and hope you can make it there in time to buy what you couldn’t afford on your previous visit which took place immediately after killing the final boss.
Assuming you have made it through this tangled mess of tasks that in and of themselves should have a reward associated with their completion but obviously don’t, you then spend the next thirty minutes sorting through this tangled mass of items that you have somehow barely managed to fit in your inventory. All in all you have just spent a good 3 hours of your life for about 20 items and if you are lucky a few gold! Not only that but you can’t even buy ANYTHING for less than 50 ore plus some coin on top of that. To make matters worse some of these items cost upwards of 250 ore while others, the runes to be specific, cost 100 ore chances are you need 6 of them! That brings the total just for a set of runes to 600 ore. 600(ore)/20 (ore yield per run)*3(hours per run)=90 hours or 3.75 days worth of time. I guess you best hope that you don’t need more than a single set.
~~~Closing Statements~~~

Please tell me that I am not the only one that sees the sheer idiocy in this.

Again sorry for the rant but this is probably the one thing keeping me sane right now due to the fact that the one thing that would normally keep me sane is driving me insane.

Say all you want, this does NOT diminish the fact people are wasting hours of time in crashes all over the game. Regardless of if a crash happens or not, it’s the same thing for D/C! or maybe a breaker tripped. The issue is not being able to get back on the map and being boned out of hard earned rewards due to a really bad design.
