Crashing on zoning

I suffer from the same, and I believe based on past posts from the Arenannet devs that my issue is related to a complication with the NVidia drivers on Windows 32bit Vista. It causes intermittent memory overflow, which is most likely to happen when the clients need for graphics memory spikes, ie. when zoning into a new area with high population like LA. It also occurs in a few other heavy load scenarios, such as WvsW.
If you use Vista 32bit and have an NVidia card, that may be the issue. While Arenanet figure out a fix, your options are unfortunately limited to upgrading your OS (either to Vista 64bit, or Windows 7…. may as well make it a Windows 7 64bit if you go that route and your CPU and motherboard supports this), or getting another model graphics card. None of them particularly enticing, I know.
NVidia did recently make a new release version of theirs drivers available. You might try to see if that helps the issue. On a releated note, while it did not fix the CTD issue for me, upgrading to the beta drivers did give me a noticable performance increase.
I have the same D/C issue. Dont know much more to put in the box other than “the crash occurs while porting” FYI I am on Vista w Nvidia card … but would figure the specs should show in the crash log.
