Cultural gear and crashing
I’m using tier 3 cultural armor (medium) on my sylvari and I’ve had the game crash once or twice as well while I’ve been un-equipping a piece of armor that suffers from the dye problem. There are a few pieces that always revert to “midnight purple” after you try to apply another dye on them.
all is vain
This is something I have already experienced myself and it seems that currently there is nothing they can do.
The following is from my own support ticket I submitted on the matter:
Hi there,
Thanks for the updates!
As it turns out, the crash bug that you are experiencing is a known issue that is currently being addressed by the development team. I do not have an estimated date as to when the bug will be fixed at this time.
As for the PvP Remove Dye feature, the colors that you are describing are the base colors for the armors of a Warrior and a Thief, respectively. If you had dyed your armor at any point in the past, then using the Remove Dye feature will return your armor to its base colors. The PvE dye issue that you are describing though is a bug which I have reported to the development team. Thank you for letting us know about it!
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Cheers,

My particular armor set was cultural tier 3 which is very bothersome since the whole point of it is for looks and now it looks like crap. There goes 120g down the drain.

Ouch, I’m sorry to say that I’m glad I’m not the only one experiencing this but I feel sorry for you! Thanks for the response though
I apologize for reviving an 11 day old thread, but would like to add that this is happening with transmuted charr cultural tier 2 (heavy) as well. This only happens with the chest piece; the other 5 pieces dye properly and do not cause any crashes or errors.
I’ve also noticed I can remove the chest piece by dragging it from the hero panel to the inventory (I) pane, and it will not crash, but it will crash most of the time if removed through just the hero panel alone.
Glad to see devs are aware of this issue already
Same here – Last night I picked up some Tier 3 Human Assassin Boots & transmuted them to see that the 3rd dyable patch isn’t sticking to the color I give it (along with game crashing behavior when unequipped/reequipped).
It seems to be happening with a select few of the armor sets, from what other related threads are saying, but glad to see it’s on the radar of upcoming fixes.
