DC due to player inactivity
Yeah, it’s because you were standing still. You’ll get disconnected for inactivity while using interface elements, too (bank, trading post, guild interface, bags), provided that you aren’t moving.
It shouldn’t have been sudden, though -- you start getting a message about it every ten seconds for about a minute prior to it disconnecting you. At least that’s been my experience, aside from when I’ve not been near my screen.

Moving requires moving position, jumping does not count.

Idling in game isn’t against the rules and it would be silly if it was. Stepping away from the keyboard and having a program (bot, macro, etc.) perform actions or play the game for you is a different story. The people who claim they were banned or suspended because of inactivity probably weren’t telling everything. I doubt the reason that popped up said it was due to inactivity.

Ok, thanks lol. I always shut my client down if i had to go afk for 5-20 minutes just because i thought i would get banned lol

What you’re talking about is a false positive and Anet is usually pretty good about correcting their mistake… assuming it really was a false positive. A lot of people lie or omit details when making “I got banned and didn’t do anything wrong!” posts. We should take most of the stuff people say with a grain of salt when it comes to bans and suspensions.
There’s a difference between getting banned while idle and getting banned for idling. I think that’s what the person I responded to could have been mixing up.
