That’s an event that triggers at the Skill Point Challenge in a cave at the very south west of Timberline Falls.

Oddly enough my Guardian is scaled down to level 58 while the spider is level 60.
Anyway. The actual bug is that the spider takes NO damage at all. I could have beaten on it for hours without any effect.

I ended up switching to scepter+focus, kiting it away as far as possible, root it and run back with swiftness. Just in time to finsh “communing with this place”.

As a lvl 65 Mesmer with lvl 60-62 eq (I was scaled down to lvl 58 of course), it took me about 15 minutes of continuous fighting to down her (that was about 7-8 hours before your post). She either had immense HPs or immense toughness (I can’t remember how much damage she was actually taking). I did the commuting at some point while she was busy with my illusions, but I only finished her because I took it personally. She wasn’t worth all the time it took fighting her. There are easier events of the same level.

I experienced same thing. Took to Guardians scaled down to 58 to kill it and it took about 3 minutes.

Then I’m happy I chose the kiting way … afterall I was after the Skill Point and she didn’t have a scratch after 1 minute of continous beating and burning.

I admit that my guardian runs a very defensive build, but I find it hard to believe that she can be solo downed in 3 minutes. Impressive!

According to my combat log she took 200-300 per hit (non crit) from my mace and — as I said — seemed to be at 100% after 1 minute.

I also have another way of getting these skill points that works well for me when fighting isn’t working. I get “Ash Legion Spy Kits” from the heart NPC in Plains of Ashford/Victor’s Presidium (lower southwest corner). They cost like 28 karma each. They make you invisible for about 10 seconds. You can run up to the skill point… double click on one of those and get your skill point (if the skill point doesn’t require you killing the NPC).

@xlion I guess “to Guardians” meant “two Guardians”. If they had high lvl eq, 3 minutes sounds plausible.

No matter, if “to” or “two” or 3 or 15 ….
I didn’t take it as bragging. I was genuinely impressed and I’m gonna try those Spy Kits.

Anyway, this spider needs some serious make under, I think.

For SPs where there is only one enemy you can also use Aegis.

This bugged for me as well a couple daysago, but differently. When I got to the skill point, the Vet Cave Spider spawned, and I beat it in less than a minute, then immediately, another spawned, that took me and another player a good 10 minutes to beat it. It seemed like the second spider had the health of a champion spider.

This spider definitely seems to have the health of a Champion. I actually didn’t notice the different in levels before, I just knew that it hit like a truck, if allowed to.

It took several minutes for a conidition-mancer and a power necro to down it. I more or less fought it on my engineer through at least three Supply Drops.

It’s not unusual for skill point challenge NPC’s to have a ton of HP, but they usually have some kind of warning… (the Cow SP in Diessa Plateau comes to mind) This one seems more likely to be simply bugged to me.

OMG i was thinking “How strong is this thing/how crap am I if I can’t even land any damage on this thing!?” and was lookign through google for a guide to defeat it :P

luckily I got the skill point by getting my trusty earth elemental to tank it
