I earned the holographic shattered dragon wings and converted them to a pvp item. I recently decided to remake the character and stripped off all of his armor but forgot about the wings. I already deleted him, I’m wondering if there’s any way I can get the wings back?

As far as I know, fashion/appearance items in the PvP Locker are unlocks and can be used an unlimited number of times by all characters on the account within PvP.
Is this not the case? Do you no longer have that back item unlocked in your PvP Locker? I do not partake in PvP, so I do not know if this functions this way for certain. I can’t find specific details on back items in the PvP Locker around the web just yet.

Ah, thank you. Every mention of special skins (even these shatterer wings specifically) have stated that they are unlocks and can be taken an unlimited number of times in PvP once unlocked. However, those were all player comments, I hadn’t found anything mentioned in official game info/guides or on the wiki. :\

Stin, I believe these unlimited items are only the weapon and armour skins you choose upon claiming your achievement chests. Other skins are 1 time use items that need to continuously be transmuted (if I’m not mistaken, but I can be lol).

Ah, thank you, Kyllaa. As I mentioned, I don’t have any experience with PvP or with how the locker and PvP skins function. I was kind of using the OP’s situation as a bit of a springboard for those who know to correctly inform of how those skins work. It’s nice to actually have a clue now.

Also, the issue the OP encountered may have easily been avoided if the 3D rendered character displayed in the Hero Panel actually had the back item visible that is currently being worn on it. Back items are visible in the preview screen when previewing a back item skin, I don’t see any reason why they are not also visible on our character in our Hero Panel for a back item we actually have equipped. This has been suggested several times in the suggestions forum, though perhaps it is due to be requested once again. :\

So after a day or so of patiently waiting I finally get a response saying that Anet is not able to retrieve items from deleted characters. So that’s it then? This is a serious flaw in the design of these one time, one instance limited time items is if something happens like this then oh well, screw all that crap you did to get it it’s gone now gg.

Now I’m wondering, if someone’s account gets hacked, and the characters deleted, what happens then? Would they really have the balls to say “Sorry tough luck, we can’t give you your stuff back”?

What they do with hacked accounts which have characters deleted is, they periodically take ‘snapshots’ of all the the accounts in the game. If your account is hacked, once you get it back they can reset the account to the nearest snapshot before the hack. This account rollback is apparently the only way they are able/willing to restore things and its only offered for hacked accounts as a once in a lifetime deal as it is labor intensive. Its not offered for accounts where a person deleted a character himself.

The reason for the restriction, as I understand it, is budget. This is not a subscription based game where people pay them every month. This is a game that many people bought the game and never bought anything else. This means they have to consider a budget and set some things outside what they will do. If you get hacked you get your stuff back, once. If you delete or salvage something, then it’s your fault for not being careful and they do not offer account rollbacks for this.

Ok, well thank you for the explanation. Now my frustration is stemming from the way these types of items are implemented. We got one chance to get it over the course of the few weeks of the event, and would receive ONE instance of the item. Want another set for an alt? Too bad, want a set for PvE AND PvP? Too bad. One set, thats it.
It would be a lot easier if they just made it work similar to the achievement rewards, so we can just grab these items when we want them instead of this lifetime concrete choice that we have to make.

I kind of agree for these types of items, they should to into our “achievement panel.” Perhaps we should post this on the suggestions forum?
