Demolition Expert
Same for me. Still 0/1. A friend of mine got progress though. Maybe you need to do enough dmg with a ram or something?
I tried everything.
Melee weapons on the gate, Ram on the gate, catupult on a wall.
I’m still at 0/1.
Chars : Exa Flare | Exaflare | Aurora Wall | Aurora Sword | Azure Flame God
Same, stuck here aswell.
Also tried ram the gate, melee , range and AOE on gate, nothing.
Cant do progress.

I’ve had to man the ram from start to finish to get credit for this.
Someone dropping off the ram to heal and I take their place, no credit.
PvD in any capacity, no credit.
Ramming when there is a siege golem also present, no credit.
Basically if you don’t get wxp (i.e “credit”) for damage done to the door, it won’t progress the achievement. I don’t think it’s the achievement that is bugged, I think its a bigger issue that they may have changed (intentionally or accidentally) the damage requirement for a gate/wall “kill”. I always used to get wxp when a gate broke after PvDing it, but not anymore.
So, either the damage requirement for a door/wall kill is bugged, thus affecting the achievement, or it was always bugged and they fixed it to make it work as intended (which would suck, because then you’ll have people fighting over who gets to man siege). Either way, dev response please!

I have issues with getting progress aswell

same here … i am at 10/30 still but i ramed, dpsed, trebd and catad around 60+ gates
any fix will be really appreciated!

You cant get recognition for any gate or wall by pvd ing . You just screw up your commander if he was trying not to get orange swords.
If you get wxp when the gates/wall gets down it counted. This will happen if you either made enough dmg while using siege (for example you can use a ram till 50% and then let another person on it so he get achievment progress too) or which is much easier just being inside the group of the one person using the ram on the door. It s the same mechanic as the kill recognition. The person using the ram will have done more than enough dmg so hitting the gate even once will be enough for a party member to get recognition too (wont work on walls obviously).
I have also issue progress in this.
Totally buggued.
Have broke a lot of doors, and i only had two counted for the success. Doesn’t matter if i hit a bit, a lot, with or without a siege engine on the door, it doesn’t work nearly most of the time.
It´s bugged. I did 250k damage using a siege to a door. Finally the door broke down and it didn´t count.

This achievement is still bug. I have broke 5-10 gates today and no one counted for my achievement. My achievement sign 7 gates broken, but it’s stuck at 7 for two days…
Please, fix this. Actually it is a waste of time :\
Maybe the title of this topic should be renamed to something more explicit like “Demolition Success achivement doesn’t work as excepted”, in order to catch the attention of someone from ArenaNet (otherwise it may be corrected in a few weeks, just before the end of the season).
the criteria is very strict. I’ve got credit for 4 gates. one I remember I hopped on just before the gate went down and got 2 hits in and got credit. another I treb’ed a wall from full health down to 0. it’s a little random if you’ll get it or not. if I had to guess: you need to deal the final hit that breaks it.

I agree, but it still seems horribly flawed. Not allowing people credit for doing PvD encourages all sorts of bad behavior. You’re gonna see achievement hunters dropping blueprints instead of letting the cmd do it, so they have priority and can take control of the siege. Or people without ram mastery/structural vulnerability refusing to get off the ram cause they want their door kill credit. And let’s not even discuss the horror of switching operators in the middle of a cap just so everyone “gets their turn”.
Besides, not getting credit for a Deomlition Expert isn’t really gonna deter the hapless gate punchers from PvD’ing when they’re not supposed to.
The only time I’ve gotten credit for walls my groups have attacked was when I was one of the people using siege.
The conclusion I’ve drawn is that using siege and/or doing a huge amount of damage to the wall is the only way to progress on this particular achievement.
